Do I need a blog?

I have one, it has no header, and I've never posted in it.

Should I? Do I need to? LOL

What is the "main" purpose of YOUR blog, is it to show off scrap stuff, pics of your kids, posts about your life? I'm not a big blog reader (obviously) so I'm curious!

Yea, I wanna read allllll about you :P

I update mine every like 2 weeks. I'm not good at it. But I still keep it around. I used to post lots of freebies on it (templates), but I got out of that.

I actually have 2 blogs. I have a family blog and a scrap blog. We started our family blog 3 1/2 years ago to keep in touch better with family and some friends. Mostly family. the Grandparents all love the regular updates and pictures.

I started a scrap blog because I liked to share my pages with family and friends, but it was taking over my family blog--that's why I divided it. Now I still use it to share with family and friends who like to see what I do... but I also use it a little bit for showing off CT layouts and enabling.

So, I don't know if that helps you at all. I don't think you need a blog. I don't think anyone checks mine regularly besides friends and family and a few people who aren't into digi-scrapping yet but like it. Especially because it doesn't have updates about me, just scrapping stuff. Everyone else probably checks it because it's linked in my siggy and doesn't come back. And that's perfectly fine with me! I scrap for me and my family.

I'm rambling. I'm done. :)

sure, why not.

eta: oh my main purpose of my blog? So i can talk to myself. Plus I like to play around with setting it up and stuff. sometimes.

I love my blog and update it regularly. I have no idea who reads it but people do because they leave me comments. I love that I can flick back to last August and see what I was making and find out a bit about what was going on in my life. My blog isn't really about family and stuff as I have no kids but I like putting photographs up of my adventures (I'm a summer weather adventurer so none for quite a while ) and all the stuff I make.

I think I have mostly scrap stuff on mine. I used to blog more about my life for the family, since they are always whining about wanting pics of the kids (my 2 are the only grandkids on my husband's side of the family...his other 4 adult siblings are unmarried/no kids). BUT...turns out that no matter how many times I give them the freakin' blog info, they can't seem to manage to read it. So, you know what I think about that.

I enjoy reading other blogs, but it can be a time sucker...be warned!

I say go for it!

I like updating mine. I really don't have any idea who reads mine . . . if anyone other than my mom and my sister, but I like having it. I know I like reading other peoples blogs, so I figured why not give it a try.

I think you should start yours up. You have great layouts to show off and I'm sure you have much more interesting things to write about than I do!

I don't have one but I think I want to set one up but I don't know what to use or how to set it up

I think blogs are fun but it can also be a bit like posting layouts and getting no responses LOL - if no one comes, you start to wonder why you are doing it. :) I have a general blog to keep our family and friends updated on our family - it's not private, but I don't advertise the link generally so really only a handful of people read it. I have some online homeschool friends that read but there's probably not enough scrap content to keep scrap friends interested.

I did a scrap blog for a while - but haven't kept up with it.

ETA: I just read through the responses above and I agree, it is really nice to go back and look through my blog and see what we were doing in any given month. I love that.

I originally started mine because I was a CTMH consultant and they would only let you put like 5 pieces of artwork on your site that you had to purchase from them...I figured the way around that would be to start a blog. LOL! Well...it was a couple weeks after starting it that Mason wound up in the hospital, so then I used it to update friends/family about him. Now it's kindof ... well, honestly, I haven't posted there in months. LOL! But the posts are random - some about life, some about scrapping, some about Mason & his treatments.

Yeah, I had BIG plans for my blog and it just kinda sits there and looks pretty ( kinda anyway!!!!)

I have 2 blogs, well 3 but only using 2. One is mainly for all my scrap stuff. Post my LOs and CT stuff, etc. The other is for my business site.

I actually have 2 blogs- one for scrappers who want to see my layouts and hear a bit about my life, and one for family who don't want to see my layouts. Turns out, my family doesn't read the family one, they read the scrapping one, just because that's the one that is linked on the front page of my site! LOL I do update my family one every once in a while though. Especially for things that the scrapping world doesn't need to know.

I have a blog mainly for my family. I do include scrapbook stuff or whatever really. We're in Alaska, Sean's family is in Michigan & My mom is in New Mexico and the rest of my family is in Florida & Georgia, so it's a good way for them to keep up with us.

Blogs are nice to have. Mine are sort of personal journals. I have a parenting one and a crafty one. The parenting one is all about my family. The crafty one has some layouts on it, some crochet projects I have done, recipes, and reviews of books I am reading.

My blog is pretty random. The name is Pamster's Planet, which pretty well sums it up. I post about whatever is on my mind: kids, adoption, politics, scrapping, photography, religion, silly quizzes, etc. I know my folks, DH's folks, and some people at work check it regularly so I do have a bit of a filter on what I share that I might not in an anonymous blog. It has been a great way to share our family building journey (including 2 trips to China) with our friends and extended family. Plus, I'm terrible about getting pictures printed and carrying them in my purse. Whenever anyone at work asks me if I have new pix of the kids I just pull up my blog and voila.

Yup, I'm just like that! I am horrible about calling people. I communicate online, so I have a family blog to update family with news and pics of my DD. I also just started a scrap blog for the "scrap news" like fun sales or new freebies since I knew most of my family didn't care about that stuff. I share my LOs on both blogs because my family likes to see those too. I LOVE blogging. I think it's fun.

I love mine too! I think it just depends on what you like - I love writing and sharing, so of course I have one. ;) And we also have family and close friends scattered all over (half my family is still in Norway), so I think of it as a great way to share photos and events and such without filling up everybody's email inboxes! Thanks to Squarespace, I can track activity, and even though I don't get too many comments, I know exactly how many people are subscribing to my RSS feed, how they got to my blog, etc. So I finally know for sure that I have readers!

Having people actually read and comment on your blog is strangely addictive. It's like wanting comments on your layouts!

I thought I needed one too, but then I got real and realized I'd never update it. I decided not to bother since the only reason I would have been getting it is because everyone else had one.

I have one that is private for my family and friends to read about our lives. I update it daily because I don't live near family (except a sister) and if I don't update, they start calling me to make sure I'm Okay! LOL!

I recently printed my blog in a blurb book, and it turned out AWESOME! I'm so pleased with how it looks. It's so cool to hold my journal in my hands. :) I plan on printing once a year. I've gotten so many compliments on it when I show it off to friends and family, and lots of people started blogs because of it. Very fun.

I agree about getting comments - it's the best part. :)
