Disney Cruise

Has anyone taken a Disney cruise? If so, what did you think...was it worth it...I'm considering taking my son next year and it seems to be very kid friendly...I would appreciate any info...Thanks....
 
We went on the Disney Wonder to the Bahamas back in 2006.

It was definitely VERY kid friendly. My son was only 10 months at the time and I still felt like there was plenty for us to do with him. My nephews were older and had a blast. We aren't ones that leave our kids with the babysitting services, so I can't comment on that, but everything else was definitely top notch. The food was excellent, the staff was so friendly and helpful (my nephew still talks about our waiter), the coordination of the meals ran smoothly, and the ship was spotless.

My only complaint was that the family pool was always extremely crowded so we only went in it one time.
 
We haven't been yet, either...we went to Disneyland this past April and now I'm REALLY hoping to do a 7-night land/sea package in 4 years (4 nights at DisneyWorld, 3 nights at sea). It was so hard to see many characters at DL, and I'd assume that it would be the same at DW...I figured this way we could focus on doing the rides and then meet all the characters on the ship.
 
We took a 4 day Disney cruise and had a great time! We were a little skeptical going in, but the kids' programs are fantastic and our kids really wanted to go which left us adults with some much-needed free time. The shows are very good too, though obviously kid-oriented. They have various character meetings around the ship scheduled throughout the day. The family pool is quite crowded, but that's cruising for you. They also have separate adult and teen areas and pools and a fantastic adult-only restaurant. So, there is something for everyone. You spend at least a day on Disney's own island which is wonderful -- beautiful beach with TONS of beach chairs; fun games (we came in second in the hermit crab races); a barbeque; boats to rent; and a bunch of other beach activities and excursions.
 
I've never been but I SOOO want to! My oldest son has a friend whose family swears that Disney has the best cruises for service / food etc. even if you don't have young kids. They went last summer with 2 adults and a 15 yr old.
 
I have taken my kids a couple of times and will be doing it again. The kids programs are great and really fun stuff (sleepover with goofy, dancing with snow white etc). EVERYTHING is kid friendly...restaurants are entertaining, food is good for adults and for kids, lines are managed (mostly). Lots of opportunity to meet the characters and the shows are really good and kid oriented too. The pools are really really crowded but my kids love them. My only real complaint is that the stuff for under 3's is pretty limited. My one year old did not want to stay in Mickey's ear at all and they don't allow kids in swim diapers into the bigger pool. I didn't use babysitting either so can't comment on that.

I have looked into this recently and we are Disney freaks {well me mostly} :p but since there are 6 of us we have to really plan in advance...so I am planning on taking the kids in the summer of 2010 when youngest DS will be 3... I have read that there is not much to do if they are under 3 so I want to wait until his b-day.....but since we are on the West Coast and DH DOES NOT fly, we will have to wait until they have more Western cruises that we can go on...even though I haven't been, I imagine Disney goes ALL OUT!
