okay I have partially thawed pork chops and one jar of Newman's Own Peach Salsa.

i'm thinking I can throw those 2 together and bake . . .? or should I do stove top? do you think those 2 things would taste okay together?

i feel like I should add something else. But i have nothing else to add. things are pretty bleak in the food dept around here.

i will also be making rice since no meal is complete to DH w/o rice. well I will also microwave some green beans, to seem more wellounded . . .
 
It sounds like it would go together fine. I'm thinking bake it. Maybe bake the pork chops until they are almost cooked and then add the salsa on top and cook a little longer? But maybe if you cooked them the full time together, it would give it more flavor... gee, I guess I'm not really helping. Rice and beans sound great too. And your dh sounds like mine..lol.

Now you've reminded me, I need to go and see what's for dinner around here.. lol.
 
i'd probably leave the salsa off...I'd either bake or fry the chops (have any bbq sauce?), serve with the rice and green beans...

I do love the salsa with cream cheese and chips though..yummy the pineapple one too lol

I think it'd be fine to bake it. I usually just put the oven on 350 degrees and throw whatever I'm cooking in there for the appropriate amount of guestimated time. :thumbup: Voila!
 
hmm, I feel like I have to cook it with the salsa in hopes that I will not completely dry out the pork. I am an over-cooker and DH despises dried out meat (some people are just SO picky).

maybe I'll just use a partial jar of salsa.

maybe I should add some chicken broth to the baking dish.

i hate cooking. why can't we all just take pills?

Thankfully, Jordan decided to make dinner since he was a cranky jerk this morning. I'm eatin gooood tonight :p
 
The only way I cook porkchops is in the oven w/a breadcrumb coating. I like my foods crunchy! I tend to do a high heat...like 425 for 30-45 minutes. It works out fine b/c I eat when my girls nap; I leave some porkchops in a slightly opened oven for it to cook 'more' for my girls. I cut (w/scissors) their meat pretty small so it doesn't really matter much if it's cooked more than I would like it.

Though my dad does a stovetop version (frying on both sides w/onions, then simmering w/some cream of mushroom & water mixture). Though it's too much work for me (I like to put it in the oven and forget about it until it's done...instead of 'watching' it cook). And the cream of mushroom thickened (w/cornstarch..we are chinese after all) for gravy over the pork chop and rice.

okay, 1. I should have listened to Meg and left off the salsa (and tacos sound yummy)

2. I shoud have gone the cream of mushroom route. I was thinking of that too but since I had already used cream of mushroom the night before . . .

in summary, the pork was overcooked and chewy, bordering on tasteless.
 
Mimi, I know this is late but you can marinate the pork in the salsa for a few hours before baking/grilling, scrape it off, bake/grill and then top with more salsa for the last 5-10 minutes. Marinating the pork helps tenderize and it adds some flavor.

the chops marinated in the salsa probably would have been good - we tend to use fruits such as cherries or apples with our pork chops. In fact, I was going to do cherry pork chops in the slow cooker, but I kinda lost track of time scrapping ... and well, they are in the oven now on their way to dryness. lmao

Poor Meems, if there's one thing I can't stand either it's dried out meat LOL.

I like mine on the bbq, it's really the only way I like pork chops aside from the cream of mushroom soup.
 
Well, fortunately DH had to work tonight so I didn't get a chance to dry out any meat... :p I'm an over-cooker as well. So, I boiled myself an artichoke to go with my lemon pepper mayo and Derrick had leftover pizza.

I don't like pork all that often but I will either fry them coated with flour (last night actually) or bake them in Yoshidas teriakyi sauce and serve them over rice.

Tomorrow night is bok choy salad with grilled chicken breast. YUM!!!
