Dine with Shamu? Is it worth it?

We are headed to Sea World in a month! I can get a discount on the Dine With Shamu meal but am wondering if it is worth it for 6 and 4 year old boys. They are kinda into sea animals but not obsessed. We are doing at least one meal in the park but if the Shamu meal is not worth it than I will just do the picnic meal.

Any other Sea World tips?

TIA!

Which SW are you going to?

We were in San Diego in February and seriously, SeaWorld was a HUGE hit - bigger than Disneyland!

If dining with Shamu includes getting to touch him, etc., I would sooooo do it!
I wish we could have done something like that when we were there.

They had families that {probably paid extra} and got to play with the dolphin and pet Shamu. My kids would have love that!

We did it when my boys were almost 3 & 5 and they liked it a lot. If it's in your budget, I say go for it. Have fun!

We are going to the one in San Antonio. I am getting one annual pass so we can get the free parking and discount on food. Hopefully this will give me a good deal on Dine with Shamu.

I went to the San Antonio one last summer when my son was almost 2. He loved the shamu show, but I didn't even know of a dinner. We just ate at one of the restaurants and he got a really cool plastic container with his meal that had shamu on it. One of the best kid meal toys ever cause he can use it to carry his toys with him when he goes places now. Hmm, I don't think I helped a lot, did I? lol

we have done the dine with Shamu a couple of times, you don't get to touch the whales they are just in the pool behind you while you eat a buffet meal. The trainers will have them pose for pictures on the ledge and you can talk to them a little bit but all in all, it's pricey for the meal and experience. If your kids like the animals, I would see about getting pictures taken with either the seals or belugas; or, what about the animal encounter? We only did it twice because our nieces wanted to do that for their birthday meal with us and then we took our son because he was really into shamu.

I have never been to the one in Texas but the one in Florida you can feed the stingays and dolphins and sealions (or walruses I cant remember LOL whichever they are you throw the food to them not actually hand it to them like with the dolphins & stingrays). My honest opinion if you have these types of encounter Id skip the dining with Shamu and do the feeding encounters with the dolphins/stingrays since it is alot cheaper and has more like one on one with the animals. I had some pics of us feeding the dolphins somewhere which is my favorite part but I dont know where they are now or Id send you a link to show. Good luck on whatever you decide though Im sure it will be awesome for them no matter which one you choose to do!!

we did breakfast w/ shamu in San Diego. The kids didn't get to touch him ... but seeing him really close was cool. Plus it was a buffet so we felt like we got more than enough food for our money.
