Deleting Stuff

I suck at it. Today's goal - a major purge of scrap stuff on my EHD and then transferring over this year's stuff. Only problem - I've only talked myself into deleting 4gb worth of stuff. lol The plan was to get rid of at least half of what is currently on the EHD - yeah.... I repeat. I suck at this.
 
Well I think my problem is that a lot has been retired so I'm afraid if I delete it I'll never be able to get it again. Disregard the fact that some of it hasn't been used in YEARS.
 
Delete? What's delete?

Yeah, I don't do it that often. Isn't that what EHDs are for? I do get rid of pictures that don't look good.

Are there any old kits that aren't really your style anymore? Sometimes that makes it easier to delete. But again, I just usually get another EHD.
 
what is the delete you speak of?

I hate purging. But I just purge everything to my back up EHD and if I don't go looking for it in a year, then I try to be ruthless...There are some things that no matter waht I won't ever delete though
 
I started deleting a bit last week. Slowly, I started reorganizing my stuff by making folders the way Traci has in her tutorial (right now, I made them as _papers, _stitches, etc to keep them at the top of folder system until I go thru all designer folders). So, as I'm making my way thru each designer folder, I delete the stuff I won't use and file other stuff under it's category. I may not break up some designer folders that I have tons of kits to make it easy to get to them.. but everything else is getting reorganized and deleted.
 
I don't delete nearly enough. I do delete kits I don't think I'll use again, but everything else I pretty much keep. Being on a store CT this means my EHD is pretty full! I keep thinking that one day I won't be on a store CT anymore, and I will have to use whatever's in my stash, so I keep it all.

I'm in the same boat - don't want to delete it just in case!!!

I did free myself from some templates I'll never use again this morning and some kits I just know aren't me. Hopefully I won't regret my decision! I'm moving everything over to our server from my laptop and it takes hours to move one folder. After I restore some of it had to come back over (or maybe it won't :w00t:)

I'm terrible at deleting as well. I have about 200gb of digi scrap stuff, and I was able to delete about 30gb last week. I do want to delete more, though.
 
i dont feel the need to delete my scrap stuff, even tho i really have too much and plenty i know i wont use. what i should be deleting is the 1000's of bad photos i have. Everytime i upload my photos, i should just pick out the best from each event/shoot and delete the rest, that would save me sooooo much room, especially because my camera files are huge.
 
Totally agree about the photos. I have years of them I should really delete 80% of. I am such a good purger around the house... I can't stand clutter! But with files... I can't SEE them, so I don't know they're there LOL!! My hubby can't stand when he gets on my laptop and sees that my hard drive is 90% full :)
 
There are a couple of designers I keep everything they make, because I use it over and over again or it makes me happy to look at. Others I keep if I like and will use again. Otherwise, I ditch the rest. I am ruthless. I can't imagine I'll bonk my head and be sad about deleting anything. The only thing I'd ever be sad about losing would be my photos. I back those up in two other places just in case.
 
you could have your husband accidentally wipe EVERYTHING on your hard drive AND ehd and then have so choice but to bask in all the room you now have for things. i wouldn't advise it though, i may have had a headache for 2 weeks!!
 
I delete rather ruthlessly these days. Every 4 months I go by date and put anything a year or more older in a 'delete on x/x/xx' folder and if I use stuff in it in the next 4 months I more it out. If not I delete the folder without looking in it. I currently have 2 things in my folder to be deleted on the 31st. I really cleaned up my stash & my photos this year.
 
I'm a pretty good deleter. It took me awhile to get to this point. Every so often, maybe 1 or 2 times a year I delete anything that I've scrapped with (and don't think i'll scrap with again) but nothing that I haven't scrapped with. I do not delete photos. There is too much out there that I like for me to keep everything.
 
I cleared out some of my stash a few months ago. I think I need to go a bit further than what I did though. I still have a lot of stuff. LOL!
 
I can't bring myself to delete scrapbook stuff.. especially if it's ones I bought. I'm okay deleting freebies that I've used or ones I know I'll never use, but ones I paid for.. I just can't do it. I'm a hoarder. LOL.
But then again, I still have (and love!) kits from 6-7 years ago. lol
