Ok now that the holidays are sort of over....and you are relaxing a bit - we have another fun "Question of the day" for you!

What is the most interesting or unusual gift you have ever received that made you go "hmmm?"


In our house, my dh received some kind of "Ricky Martin" silver spandex type shirt from a nephew. We kind of thought it was a joke but quickly found out it wasn't.....we still have that shirt and just laugh each time we see it wondering just where would you wear something like that!

Some of you know this since we talked about it on another forum... but the most... awkward gift would have been about 6 years ago. I attended my first Christmas with my not yet hubby's family... we were dating over a year and were just engaged the month before... So, if you can picture it... I've only known these people since Easter (Dave kept me far from them for the first 1/2 of the year we were dating)... well, Dave's step mom (she is one of those "brides" from Russia... only marrying Dave's dad about 3 years prior to Dave and I dating)... gave... us... uhm, me... a plastic candy cane filled with little jars of edible body paint!!! Talk about awkward... Dave's dad didn't know what it was... so you have Marina explaining it to him... she also thought it would also make a nice ice cream topping... :blink::blink::blink:

Every year we go to my ILs flying club's Christmas party and the adults each buy a $10 gift to exchange with another person of the same sex, then Santa gives you a little present as well. This year as Santa's little present I got a set of anti-nausea wristbands.

When I was 22 years old, my mother gave me a letter stating that she'd happily pay for me to have my stomach stapled so I would lose weight. I was about 20lbs over the 'ideal' weight for my height and build (5'7", small build). Of course today, now that I'm well over 300lbs, she says it's all on me and won't help. Oh--but she's offered to pay for me to get my tubes tied! (That was last year's birthday gift.) :thumbdown:

Hmmm my husband bought me shampoo and conditioner for my birthday or valentines day one year. Now this was an expensive shampoo/conditioner because we have well water that has alot of iron in the water I needed a special shampoo that would strip the iron from my hair but also keep it from drying out and keep it healthy. It costed like 15 dollars for a pretty small bottle. (it was like 8 ounces each I think) So while it was something I would defenitely use it is not something you would expect for a gift.

Another year for christmas my mother-in-law bought me pajamas and while I know I am over weight (I weigh like 160ish and am 5 ft 5) the pj's were a size XXL!!:blink: Wayyyy to big!!

When I was 13, a friend gave me a pin for my Bat Mitzvah. It was very abstract, beads glued all over the place. Definitely not tween friendly. A few months later he gave the same one to another friend having her Bat Mitzvah. We later found out they'd been part of a matched set of earrings they broke apart.

well, the one I'm thinking of wasn't for Christmas... it was a housewarming gift from our realtor... she gave us a leopard print oil burner, hubby and I laughed and wondered what gave her the impression that we were animal print kind of people... lol.
