Dear female coworkers,

Recently the bathrooms were repainted and it was requested that you stop flushing the toilets with your feet because it leaves footprints on the walls.

Whoa.

Wait.

What?

I pondered over this while I used the facilities the other day, running over the logistics in my head.

Enter stall.

Put down seat cover.

Tinkle and don't sprinkle.

Flush toilet with your shoe.

Open locking mechanism on the door with your shoe.

Oh wait...you can't do that.

Go to sinks, turn on water with your shoe.

Right, can't do that either.

But now, those of us with opposable thumbs who have flushed the toilet, opened the door, and turned on the water with our HANDS all have germs that you would normally find on said inanimate objects PLUS whatever is lurking on the bottom of your shoes.

Thanks.

It's called common sense. Pick some up at Target.

Signed,
The New Girl.

*sigh*

Off to work again this morning! I am LOVING my job and the people are really nice.

And my company has automatic Purell dispensers right next to the bathroom door. Whew. Wash hands, open door, get sanitizer, leave....that is my routine, because God knows what's on that door handle with some of the common sense I see abounding.

LOL I like that! :D I work for a small Dr.'s office (Optomitrist), there are only 4 of us. I keep hand sanitizer at my desk and there are automatic hand sanitizers in two of the exam rooms. I use special cleaner on the front desk counter to kill germs. It is nice with a small office because we have our own space, we just have to worry about what is coming in with patients. We had someone come in last week with a Herpes outbreak in there eye. I felt bad for them...but once they left we had to sanitize everything. EWWWW!

I have flushed with my shoe before in really dirty bathrooms. More germs on that toliet handle then any other place I figure.

I *think* the most germs are actually found on shopping carts.. ugh. I don't think they get washed frequently (or at all??) and just think of all the hands touching them all the time.. blech!

You know, in most places I flush with my shoe. But not at work, lol. There's a cleaning crew in there 3 times a week, and there are only 6 women on my whole floor.

Thankfully our grocery stores have antiseptic (lysol?) wipes next to the shopping carts so that you can clean it before you take the cart.

Ours do too! & if they are out or I'm at a store that doesn't have it, I ALWAYS have germx in my purse, so I use that!

And don't forget to wipe the seat where kids sit - I figure there are LOTS of germs there from leaky diapers, etc. I always wipe the bottom of my purse while I'm at it.

I flush with my feet, use a seat cover and hover in public bathrooms...the thought of public bathrooms makes me want to vomit so I try not to pee in public. LOL

Yeah but how is a toilet handle dirtier than the stall door or the water handles? I mean, you can flush with your feet but people's hands don't magically get cleaned between the toilet handle and the stall handle. Meaning the stall handles are just as dirty. Doesn't make sense.

I think cause when you flush all the particles rise up.. ie sometimes hitting the flusher. Not sure. I've never actually flushed with my feet, I'd be scared i'd miss and stick my foot in the toilet.

I read an article once that you really should close the toilet lid, even at home, before flushing, because those germs fly all over the place. For a few years DH actually put the whole toilet seat down! :D Then he got lazy again. :P

bleck! I am sure there is. And I did a ton of shopping today. Good thing I picked up 3 things of Purell!

DS had a BAD habit of trying to chew on them as a baby. *gag* Nasty little buggar.

GAH! I am dying laughing.

I'm so uncoordinated, it has never occurred to me to flush with my foot . . . because for sure my foot would be stuck in the toilet.
