Cutting Chipboard

I'm new to hybrid and I was hoping someone here could tell me if you can cut chipboard without a die cutting machine. I have a whole package of 12x12 sheets and I'm not sure what to do with it uncut. :)
 
Hi :) It depends on what shapes you want to cut. It's quite hard to cut really intricate shapes but more basic shapes, letters etc. are easily cut using a sharp craft knife or even (depending on how thick your chipboard is) with a good pair of scissors. It's probably best to just have a go
 
Thanks! I'll give it a try and see how it goes. I think I have a craft knife around here somewhere. Hopefully I'll still have all my fingers tomorrow! :)

Yes, for easy stuff you can use a knife/scissors. For lazy people, the only die cute machine that can cut through chipboard is the Klik-n-Kut and the pro level Pazzle. The last is very expensive and even the KNK will run you over $500.

Blood stains MIGHT be acceptable on a Halloween layout, as long as you don't tell anyone it's real. But considering the season? Yeah, you might want to stick to KEEPING your fingers.

I soooooooooo wish I had known about the Pazzle or the KNK (our local store doesn't have this...so not familiar with it) before I bought my Silhouette SD ... I had enough $$ in my account at the store from a garage sale (where I sold 90% of my stash) to have bought the Pazzle ... but now I have whittled away all that $ with buying scrapbooks, refill pages, and stuff for the Silhouette. Wish mine could cut chipboard!!!

Do you have a link for the klik-n-kut so I can read up on it...I'm curious but don't know who makes it.
 
The Cricut will also cut chipboard if you buy the deep cut blade, and the maching from Craftwell will cut chipboard too.
 
Supposedly the Silhouette will cut chipboard too with the deep blade thing, but I've never tried it. I'm skeptical that it actually will though. I do cut chipboard all the time with my Big Shot using the Sizzix dies and that works wonderfully!!

Of course, that's exactly what you were NOT asking, so I guess that doesn't help!! LOL.

"deep blade" ... do you mean the hot PINK screw on attachment that I use when I cut cardstock and vinyl? I cannot even imagine chipboard ... it BARELY cuts Bazzill when I put it with the PINK blade attachment, slowest speed, and put it on the thickest setting. ...am I missing something?
 
The Silhouette will NOT cut chipboard, but not because of the blade. It hangs on the backside fo the machine and won't pull back through. As for cutting Bazzill, mine cuts it beautifully, but I run it through twice on a 90 lb setting.
