CS5 question. How do I make a layer "not smart anymore"

Lol, I can't figure out how to word my question so I can explain it. When I drag up from mini bridge say a jpg digi paper CS5 makes in a "smart object" in the layers palette. If I try to select a circle with the marquee tool and press delete it tells me the smart object is not directly editable. So how do I convert a smart object layer to a normal layer?

Right click on the layer on the layer palette, and click "Rasterize Layer". It took me awhile to figure that one out too. I think you can drag it in NOT as a smart object if you hold CTRL while dragging, but I could be wrong. I used to rasterize all the time until I saw that someone used layer masks for clipping papers, so that's what I usually do.

What Megan said... just right click the object and select "rasterize".

If you go into the preferences you can untick the box to place as a smart object. Hugs Crystal x
