CS4 question...

So my sweet hubby who I was just complaining about yesterday bought me a new computer. Now he's pricing CS4 b/c I've decided to bite the bullet and upgrade. Here's what he's needing to know...does CS4 support both 32 bit and 64 bit operating systems? He wants the 64 bit...so do we need to buy extended version of CS4? I'm totally lost.

No clue here, but just wanted to say congrats and to know what you did to butter your hubby up for a new computer AND CS4????!! Totally worth him sleeping in!

I do know that CS4 is one of the few programs that actually takes advantage of the 64 bit processing. I am not sure if it standard or extended though. But DH was investigating 64 bit stuff and told me that for when I upgrade from CS2.

I just looked at Adobe's site and really it looks like Extended is just CS4 plus more video editing stuff. So I bet you are safe to go with the regular one. You could always call them tomorrow to be sure!

Nikki - i'd really encourage you to contact Adobe and work with them... my offer just expired, but it was to upgrade from PSE 6.0 to CS4 for $299, and that did include the 64 bit option for a bit more... maybe even check out their site an try a 30 day trial of one or more of the programs to see which one you like/want the most?

If you have children in school - I would highly recommend you saving some money and purchasing your CS4 here: http://www.academicsuperstore.com/. It is the full version but they also have packages that come with various other adobe products if you need them. This was how I could finally afford to get photoshop. :)

lol I know right? lol..i really felt almost bad about complaining about him yesterday lol

We don't qualify for the student discount b/c no kids in school and I'm upgrading from PSP so I'm not sure if they'd count that as an upgrade like if you're upgrading from PSE but I think he's just going to get on the phone with them anyway and see what kind of deal they can offer us..maybe he can get some kind of military discount.
