Color Laser Printers?

I know a few of you have color laser printers, how are they holding up? How often do you buy toner?

HP's color laser is on sale for 50% off for black friday and I'm seriously considering purchasing it, but I'm hoping for some input from the scrapper's perspective :)

I'll be stalking this thread b/c I desperately want a laser printer vs an ink jet printer. I'd love to hear what you really spend on toner and how often you change the toner. Also, do you think your projets look better on laser vs ink jet?

Exactly this! I'm considering investing in a laser printer, at least for photos. :)

I would like to know this too! I've heard the quality of laser printed photos is poorer that inkjet printed ones. But maybe the newer ones have improved?

well, I decided to bite the bullet since I could only see good reviews and some crafty friends love theirs. Right now Staples has the HP color laser for $150 including shipping, so we ordered that.

I'm late I know but I have an HP colour laser printer and I love it. I've had it 2 years and if it broke today I would go straight out and buy another one :) I think that I only buy a black toner cartridge once a year and the colours probably about 6 months or longer each, the magenta always runs out first but that's not suprising considering how much pink pattern paper I print :p Although it prints photographs mine prints out a bit dark and if I need photographs I print on my regular inkjet with photograph paper - I'm not a scrapbooker though, I make cards 99% of my time.

I've always liked the results of my projects better when printed on an inkjet than on a laser one, but then, I don't suppose my employer uses photo-friendly one, for obvious reasons. Might be that the quality has gone up in recent years. An interesting thread for sure.

you will have to let me know how you like your laser, Jen... I have one and I don't care for the look of my hybrid prints on it vs my inkjet... I only use it when I have bulk things like treat toppers to make.

My printer arrived today and I did a quick test print. This is with custom settings on the inkjet and custom on the laser. I just printed on regular printer paper so the test would be as true as possible. I definitely need to tweak the settings on the laser, but I am realyl happy with how the colors print so far. I really felt in the last year that even with frequent cleanings of the printheads and getting ink frequently that my colors were often muddy and not true to life on the inkjet. They're a bit bright on the laser, but I have literally done nothing other than set it up so far and I'm fairly confident I can correct that with changing some settings. The colors on the laserjet are closest to what I see in photoshop as well.

Ok...it's been decided...I will be asking for a laser printer next year for Christmas! I already got the new Silhouette Cameo for Christmas this year so yeah...I have to wait a year. :(

That is AMAZING! I've been thinking about getting a laser printer as well. I do a lot of printing (not so much for scrapbooking, but that will probably change if I had a really great printer!), and I go through SO MUCH INK. It's ridiculous.

Plus I want hybrid nails, haha!

we have two laser printers at school in our design studio. i prefer them over the wide format inkjet ANY DAY. i think the quality is better. and they're so much faster.

Yippee!!! I mentioned to DH again last night that I wanted a color laser (I've mentioned it a few times). I went to crochet, and he started looking online for sales. He found an HP Color Laser for $135 ($175 OFF)!!! SO EXCITED!!

ooh enjoy Jaedyn! I am loving mine more and more every time I use it. Remember if you use specialty papers(photo paper) you will need to get laser jet versions as well

I had been refilling with genuine Canon cartridges for more than 3 years already on my all in one photo printer though have realized that it was getting a little too pricey already.

HB then decided to get that continuous ink supply from amazon, or was it ebay, and popped it in. It was a lot better because now we do not have to be wary about getting refills as we can just use a special set of color refill.

I have a Samsung color expression - Laser and LOVE IT!!!! - The ink is expensive, but compared to the price of ink jet - not too much more - maybe 30% more - around 35 per cartridge - I also have inkjet printers we have the kids use and I really don't use it for every day -

I have a Dell 3110cn. We've had it for about 5 years now and I couldn't be happier with it. In that time I've printed countless hybrid projects as well as the kids printing off whatever they want from the internet not to mention thousands of coupons that I've printed too. The quality has always been outstanding and we've only replaced each of the toner cartridges once. I threw a little fit when my husband first bought it because it was expensive back then (about $400) and I didn't think it would be worth it. I was so wrong (and I fully admit that to him LOL). We are hard on printers and before getting this one we were replacing our ink jet printers about every 6 months. We've saved so much money and so much time (not having to worry about cleaning ink heads and trouble shooting issues) since we got this. :)
