Ok ladies, we've started our cloth diapers, but I have a question, concern.

We're getting a lot of leakage on the side, I'd say at least 2 or 3 times a day if we use just one insert. We're using the Fuzzibunz, pocket diapers. I've got them tightened up as much as I can, I think.

Any suggestions? I just put 2 inserts in this time, the small and large one that came with them. We've been doing that at night.

Harper has chunky little thighs, so I know he's big enough for them now.
 
Fuzzibunz leaked on Declan, but he had super thin thighs so I always figured that was why. I did best with prefolds and a cover.
 
are the inserts wet or dry when you change him?

I've always used 2 inserts, one hemp and one microfiber... if the inserts are wet then you just need to use more inserts or change more often... at least every two hours and probably more

if the inserts are dry then you've got some repelling going on and your diapers need to be stripped

and we use Fuzzibunz and a mix of other brands, but our faves are the Fuzzibunz, so we use them most
 
Wet, he's asleep now, so I'm not sure how the 2 inserts is working yet. ;)

I'm no help. We use Bum Genius, and the newborn inserts worked for us up till she started eating solids last month. We haven't had any leaking, and I love mine. See, I told you: no help at all.
 
stripping is a process to get whatever is repelling of the diaper... but it just sounds like he needs two inserts and changed more often... before they start solids, they are really heavy wetters, so just make sure you're changing them often... when Asher was little I had to change it every hour... but now that he's on solids, it's only every few hours and he can go through the night

We use 2 microfiber inserts during the day and at night he has to use two hemp inserts PLUS a bumgenius one size with it buttoned down so he basically has 4 layers in the front.

Which type of Fuzzibuns are you using? I have two older ones that I can not use for any of his naps or bed time because I just can't get a good enough fit around his legs and after an hour or two it's always a leak. And poops - nuh uh, not happening. His Fuzzibuns almost always leak the poop.

Our best bet is his fitteds or prefolds with his Thirsties cover. Those work with no leaks 95% of the time. ((If he does his big morning poop before he gets changed out of his nighttime pee it's always a mess no matter the diaper.)) Sunbabies are our second favorites.
 
I think the 2 inserts is working. I might try and invest in some hemp ones. So far we just have the ones that came with the diapers. We're using the Fuzzibunz one size.
