Chore Ideas?

Woo hoo! My 13yo ds announced that he is working on Personal Management Merit Badge for Boy Scouts...which means he needs a list of chores to do on a daily and weekly basis for THREE months!

I need some ideas ladies...trash and dishes are already taken care of between the 3 boys...and laundry taken down is each child's responsibility...and floors & bathroom are done by the 20yo ds in exchange for his cell phone.

Here is what is on my list so far...(but subject to revision):

  1. Dust all the rooms
  2. Wash front door window and 2 front windows
  3. Wash van
  4. Vacuum van & wipe down interior
  5. ???

Any other ideas?

I bought this kit last night to make his list LOOK interesting to him (if that is at all possible)...

Thanks for the suggestions!

My 4 and 6 year old help load/unload the dishes, load/unload laundry, etc. My son even wants to vacuum (but bless his heart he's just to skinny to push that heavy thing!)

What about sorting socks? I hate sorting socks! Do you have pets? He could feed, water and clean up after them.

You can send him here when he's done! I need to clean up this house, but alas, I'm here instead! :)

Well my boys have been doing regular chores like the following since they were old enough:

Make bed
Keep room clean on a daily basis
Empty all vanity barrels in the house (1 in each bathroom and 1 in each of the bedrooms)
Empty Trash
Carry in and put away groceries
Empty Dishwasher
weeding in the flower beds and garden
fold and put away their own laundry

ya, bathrooms. i loathe bathrooms. baseboards- clean em. windows- inside and out. ceiling fans- dust em. i mean lets get this kid to work! lol clean the garage. help you garden- have any annuals that need watering? weeds. clean the basement. organize the kitchen cabinets. touch up paint around the house.

i agree with La.. he can do anything and everything. :p

vacuum
mow the lawn
organize the garage
take the trash out
sweep & mop floors
wash all towels in the house
make dinner 1-2x per week *i hate cooking, so it IS a chore to me* :D

I can remember having to clean and sweep the garage on the weekends. And then having to spray off the patio and driveway.

What about clean out the trash cans? We need to do that around here! LOL! The ones we put down at the street are nasty.

My 15 y/o does alot of yard work. He does it on his own usually without being asked and seems to actually enjoy it so maybe pulling weeds, mowing, raking etc?

You can have him do some of the detail chores even though his b 20 yo brother does the bathrooms. I have a jub of the Lysol wipes, and I ask that one of my sons wipes the bathroom down with them after he uses it. He could wipe down daily the bathrooms, (toilet...not just the seat) counters, light switches, baseboards, etc... Then the other son can do a real throrough job once a week and scrub with the heavier duty chemicals!

All light switches in the house to be wiped down with lysol wipes.

Blinds...we have wooden blinds, so we buy the dry swiffer clothes and we clean them with those. Great weekly job...especially if you have a lot of them.

Ceiling fans and lights.

Move out the fridge and clean behind it (I did that yesterday!!)

any animals? Cleaning kitty litters is a hated chore in my home, but it has to be done.

Clean and organize one or two kitchen drawers every day.

Plan and cook one mean a week.

You lucky girl!! None of my boys enjoys doing yard work. My dh and I don't either....but we know it has to be done! They'll do it, but they usually need to be earning a trip to do something!!

LOL well see his little brother is kinda a pest to him...following him around and bugging him etc and when he is outside doing the yard work we make it a rule (for safety reasons) his brother cannot go out and bug him so it kinda makes it a break for him.
