So ce's 8.. and we have our fair share of moodiness around here. He's a weird mix of frightening and amusing when he's angry. He's currently experiencing solitary confinement until the end of time. haha but seriously.. i'm really afraid of what the coming years will bring. How do you go from doot doot doot dancing around the house, to bam screaming angry. I asked him to grab me the vaccumm (yes. really. grab ME the vac.. so I could vac something up) and all of a sudden he was this angry tiny little person. I sent him to his room (no yelling at mum! not acceptable) and told him that since he wasn't behaving he could just spend some time in there and clean up his room till he got control of himself. I received a very angry "I will NOT be cleaning my room." ... I had to turn around and chuckle.. because.... his angry voice is just ridiculous ^_^ So he stays.. in his room.. protesting the injustice, glaring at me every time i pass his room. YAY! children. I vote for eating them.
 
I'm having the same issues with my almost 8yo girl. I'm very afraid for the teenage years if she continues on this path. I keep hoping she gets it out of her system now but it's probably not very likely!
 
My kids did not hit the really moody crap til they were almost teenagers with my daughter being the worst of the three. Although my youngest does not pull it with me he is mostly "moody" with my husband.
 
yea my ten yr old is a bit insane at times, and I vote for eating them too! lol honestly though, so far the teen years have been easier than this pre teen insanity :cursing:

my 4yr old is already starting...luckily I can still pick her up and put her in the time out chair! LOL
 
Oh boy! I so know what you are saying! Those extreme mood swings are just crazy! I've always had that from my now 6 year old. He's a spirited child and he has trouble dealing with his emotions properly. He doesn't know how to express himself quite yet when he is upset/frustrated/angry/disappointed, etc. So we have melt downs. I expect them from him. We've always had them and we have worked to learn ways to help him cope (and, thankfully, it is getting much better!). On the other hand, my 9 year old girl has always been extremely even tempered. Suddenly she goes off with no notice at all. One minute she's sweet and helpful and dancing around the house singing Taylor Swift songs and the next she's slamming doors, screaming and telling us everyone hates her. Oh my. It is ridiculous. I attribute it to pre-teen hormones though. She'll be 10 in June. I remember starting to feel 'off' about that age. The emotional side always seems to set in before the physical side of puberty. Thankfully we have no signs of that yet!
 
In all honesty, I've been terrified of and dreading the teenage years since the day I found out I was having a girl. I know what I put my mom through as a teenager, and I can only pray my child doesn't end up acting the way I did! :blink:

According to my mom, they'll be worse than we were. Which completely terrifies me b/c I was HORRIBLE.
