Care Bag Ideas

Hi ladies! I am looking for some ideas. I have a friend who was recently diagnosed with cancer and will be undergoing treatment on an outpatient basis. I would like to make her a little goodie bag of things that may help her be more comfortable while she is in the hospital. I don't know what I should place in the bag, right now I am thinking:
fluffy soft socks
lotion
amazon gift card to get ebooks


Do you guys have more ideas? What about a small portable blanket?

a blanket would be good. Some hard candies in case the chemo effects their sense of taste/stomach. You might consider investing in an inexpensive MP3 player for them if they don't do that stuff on their phone. Listening to an audio book or soothing music while blocking out all else in the clinic might be good for them!
 
What a nice, thoughtful idea. Here are some thoughts:

- hard mint candies
- tissue in small packets
- pen and small notepad to jot down notes/ideas
- water/juice, small snacks (box of cookies, seeds/nuts, raisins...)
- ice packs (to keep food/drinks cold)
- scent-free hand sanitizer
- scent-free lip balm
- cute insulated bag for drinks/snacks
 
I asked my mom... she went through chemo 10 years ago...

lotion, unscented... everyone is different, but scents made her feel worse
reading material, magazines... things that they can bring them and not used the germy ones that are there
crosswords/find a word type of books
tote bag to bring things
knit hat or gift card for turbans, if going to loose hair
gift card for make-up, blush, etc... something to feel like your ol' self
good ol' homemade chicken soup
washable blankets/shall
 
If she's started losing her hair, you could get her a cute hat to keep her head warm. I hope your friend gets well soon!
 
So call me crazy, but I love to color. Yep, good old fashioned coloring books and colored pencils. It's therapeutic for me! I find it really calming. I know, I know... But that's what happens when you have kids! You do what they do!
 
I wanted to second what Rebecca said about smells. Whatever you give her, make sure it doesn't smell. Snacks, lotions, etc. That can be a big trigger for nausea, not just for your friend, but anyone who might be near her.
