Does anyone have this camera or have you tried it out? I already have a Rebel XT, but want an upgrade for my P&S. I thought at one time someone said they didn't like it, but I can't remember why. It looks like a good camera. Can anyone help?

I am interested as well!

I have the S3 and looooooooooooove it - however, I am thinking of selling it to my cousin, so that I can justify an upgrade ;)

I have the S2IS and I'm much happier with my Rebel XTi instead :) Although when we go on our disney vacation I'm taking the S2IS because it's got a great zoom and I won't worry about it like I would the Rebel. I'd be interested in knowing if the S5IS takes better pics than the S2, because I find it hard to get good action shots with the S2... like Traci said, they were blurry most of the time.

It has a great zoom, and honsetly I am really happy with it. I get blurry pics occasionally - but usually it is because of user error (like being on the wrong setting)

I have an S3IS, and it's great for a P&S. I really want a SLR, but you can still get some really great shots with the S3.

I also have an S3IS and I looove it. I don't get many blurry pics with it, but one thing I *do* notice is that if the lighting isn't just right, it has a hissy fit and my pics are grainy and gross, lol. But I think that has more to do with me than the camera, lol.

Julie - I took mine to Disney and my pics turned out awesome compared to my MIL's pics with a smaller Canon. I just put it on "action" and snapped away. There were a small handful out of 500 photos that didn't turn out - compared to nearly half of her 800 photos. She got some awesome shots that I didn't, but mostly because I didn't think to have my camera out for some of the pics, lol.

I have the s3 and the xti and I LOVED my s3. The only problem is after about a year or so I started to get a lense error on my s3. I was totally freaked out an checked into and found out that its a defect in some of the cameras that canon didnt really want to own up to. I have absolutely NO clue if this happens with the s5 though. To the s3s defense the pictures were stellar. I totally loved this camera and would have probably upgraded if I didnt decide to go with the slr. Honestly despite the lense error the camera was incredible enough prior to that that I was totally hooked. Hugs!

Is there another P&S that anyone would recommend. I want to be able to just pick it up and take a good pic, without having to worry about the lighting or getting a blurry shot. I will still use my Rebel XT mostly, but want something less bulky when we go somewhere.

Honestly, I did tons of research before I bought the S3, and I really love it. It's better than almost any P&S out there. If you look at flickr, it's one of the 2 most commonly used cameras. I'm assuming the S5 is very similar, so I would go with that.

Would any of you be willing to post some of your pics before editing? I would love to see some good shots, ok shots and bad shots, like the lighting ones to see what you are talking about. Normally I am taking pics with lights on, I don't know how much light you need with this one.
