Can someone help a hybrid wanna be?

I've never attempted a hybrid project because starting seems so overwhelming. I never paper scrapped so I don't have any supplies and honestly don't know where to begin in buying them. Soo.. what would you suggest as the "must have" supplies for doing basic hybrid projects like albums and such.

Hi, I paper scrapped for 11 years. My "basic" kit that I carry to crops with me: a good trimmer, I have and love the 12 inch fiskars one. Good adhesives, wet and dry kinds, pop dots too. Very sharp small scissors, black ink (for distressing stuff). I also have a sharp craft knife for cutting out small detailed stuff and also to trim paper away from the edges of chipboard. prima flowers and various ribbons. I have a tiny stapler also because I like attaching things with staples instead of glue sometimes. Modge podge and cheap foam brushes if you want to seal your chipboard albums to protect them from little hands.

I could go on and on with my stash, but I don't want to scare you off hybrid, LOL

that is a pretty good list. Although - I hated my Fiskers. It stopped cutting a straight line for me. I just got a CutterBee paper cutter and so far I really like it

My scissors are cutterbee and i love them, I think when I wear my fiskars out, I'm going to try the cutterbee one. I've heard alot of good things about it.

In my stash:
Cutterpede Paper Trimmer
Cutterbee Scissors
Pop Dots
Ribbon
Buttons
Xacto Knife
Glass Cutting Board
Prima Flowers
Hermafix Permanent Glue Dotto

and so much more goodness....
but I don't want to scare you!!!

I've just started diving into hybrid too...

for me the 'must haves' were a
craft knife, metal ruler and self healing mat (more control than the paper choppers)
ink (brown and black)
sand paper
a good gluestick
mod podge
and the elements that make hybrid fun... ribbon, buttons, etc.

I've been digi scrapping for awhile, but just got into hybrid a couple of months ago. And now I'm addicted to it - AND to this hybrid board! :) Sooo.... prepare to become addicted!

I made one "big" trip to the craft store (and of course, bought more than what I'd planned on), but here are my "must haves":

- Xacto knife and extra blades (I like my pink, retractable Cutterbee)
- Self-healing cutting mat
- Adhesives (I use a 2" Xyron Cheetah to adhere photo paper to chipboard, and Tom Bow's liquid glue and glue lines/dots for everything else)
- Cheap nail files for filing down the edges of projects
- Ink for inking the edges of projects (I'm totally addicted to the Color Box Cats Eyes - my favorites are the charcoal, dark brown, and light blue)
- Modge Podge and foam brushes for finishing your album (I like matte finish. If you don't know much about Modge Podge, search around on the board - there are some good threads about it!)
- Embellishments - this is where you get creative! (My favorites are ribbons, eyelets, brads, rubons, glitter and mini chipboard letters)

I wouldn't consider it a "must have" until you know you're going to stick with hybrid scrapping, but I don't know how I ever lived with a Crop-a-Dile!

My must haves would be:
glass cutting mat (I had a self-healing one from Fiskars that I did not like)
craft knife
cutterbee scissors
xyron cheetah adhesive
cats eye chalk ink
making memories sanding block
glue dots for ribbons, buttons, flowers
My purple cows paper trimmer & a crop-a-dile are nice to have too!
