camera recs under 300 please:)

My sister asked me today for a good camera recommendation for under 300. I have no idea because i havent used one besides my d90 in years. She has never used a dslr but is open to it tho i dont know if there are any in that range. A really nice p&s would b great with manual functionality. Any suggestions??

Canon. I had a Nikon P&S and they tend to have digital rather than optical zoom and that makes them POS in my opinion. I have a Canon and a Kodak P&S, the Canon is older and still a better camera...

yep I'd second the powershot range of canon cameras - not sure USD prices but here they are pretty reasonable
