Bree's Templates

I'm attempting to step out of my one-photo layout rut, and actually did a LO with THREE pics yesterday. Gasp! So since I'm feeling adventurous, I'm also thinking I'll give Bree's templates a whirl! I usually find templates hard because I tend to try to stick to them very strictly, but after chat the other day, Bree mentioned she likes for us to make them our "own", so I'm feeling a little more confident I can handle it LOL.

Which set is your favorite? :)

Um, all of them? LOL! Lemme go browse the shop and see......

I LOVE to make templates my own. They're supposed to make your life EASIER Jamie, not harder, lol.

Ok I've used collection #18 a few times:

And I really love collection #20:

Oh yea...they are a snap to use and to make them your own is a piece of cake....GO FOR IT!!! I love the Inspired By Karen Templates new this week!!!

I know! How lame am I that I can't do a template?

It's so easy too! Lol!

One thing you could do to start out, is since you're used to 1 photo layouts, start wtih a 1 photo template. Like the one in collection #18. Find a vertical photo you want to scrap, then rotate the whole template on it's side (image>rotate canvas>90 degrees cw/ccw). I know the hearts are dangling down, and when you rotate it they won't be, but you don't HAVE to use hanging elements at all. You could use some flowers and a tag instead. Kwim?

Jamie...so glad you're giving them a go!! :) And it doesn't make you LAME, lol...templates aren't for everyone. I can't wait to see what you come up with! :) Like I said in the chat...they're just the beginning point for you...what you do with them is totally up to you. :)

I think I'll get 18 then to start, everyone seems to sing their praises!

Bree, I am really looking forward to working with it, I just need to remember it doesn't have to be EXACTLY like it shows.

I like the inspired by sets the most! But you know Jamie, that I have a hard time with templates too!

I almost always use bree's templates as a starting point - in fact its hard for me to do a layout without a template now. I also spin them if its not working for me, flip em around move them, take things away. Its just a nice way to get things on a page when you are having trouble figuring out how to start a layout. :)

Oooh, me me! Can I join the "I love Bree's templates" wagon too? They are awesome! I seriously don't do any LO's without one anymore. I'm far to braindead. Thank goodness she's done the thinking for me.

But yeah, don't be afraid to do what you want with them! If you want a torn edge instead of a scallop, a flower instead of a heart, a brad instead of a paperclip, a journalling block instead of that extra picture, go for it! It actually gets more fun when you start messing around with it. You HAVE to make it your own, or it will just look like you copied over someone elses LO, kwim?

Have fun with it Jamie! And make sure you link us up when you're done!!!

um - everything!!!!!

I love all of Bree's I can't pick a favorite. I hardly ever start a layout with out one of Bree's templates.

I'm another one that loves templates! Kristin has the right idea...think of it as a base and take away things you don't want, flip, turn , twist , you name it. I always have the most trouble with photo placement, so using a template really helps me with that and then I just kind of go off on my own direction. Make sure you come back and show us your layout (s) :)

i have this love hate relationship with templates. i know that I should love them and I WANT to and I do use them, OFTEN but I have a hard time making them my own. I just have ZERO creativity that I have to start with a template because of picture placement and size. HAHA:confused:

I'm loving #20 and 2. The inspired by ones are a lot of fun as well. They are so versitile.

I'm so happy to be her guest this month :)

I totally love the "Inspired by" series, but the popsicle ones are awesome and you get a ton for your money!

i love the inspired by series....i was actually about to scrap with one of the templates from #18 the other night and then a little person took over my laptop to play with elmo & friends...

so far i have used 18 the most but i sure do love the popscicle ones....

while we have this thread i have a question for you guys (don't hate me bree!)

What is your favourite "look" with her templates.

She does them three ways.

She has her grayscale version, the ones that are grayscale with pops of color like her inspired by and her popscicle album, and then she has full color (which she has done for the chipboard album templates)

What do YOU like the best.

I gave her my preference - the ones that are gray with pops of color but I bet she would like to know other opinions too :)

I like the grey with pops of colors too :)

I'm off to use one now actually! Traci has an awwwwwwwwwwwwesome new kit I want to play wtih :)

Talk about Bree's templates ??? Oh I love all of her templates especially the "inspired by" collection ... :)

I'm such a busy mom, and her templates just help me start a LO. A Launchpad indeed!
