Board Game Recommendations for 3-4 yo

My son is just getting to the age where he can play board games. He does great with Candyland, Hungry, Hungry Hippo and a simple memory matching-type game. The only problem is I've played each of these with him soooooo many times, I'm looking for other games we might be able to play as a family. He can take turns and count, but doesn't read. Any recommendations?

I have Sorry for my kids, and Monopoly Jr. (Disney version). My kids are 4 and 5 and LOVE both games. We also got Trouble (Stitch version at Disney) and they like it, but Natalie's not strong enough to pop the bubble.

My kids also like playing Connect 4 and Guess Who when we were at the hospital...

My kids love this RAGGEDY ANN/ANDY game! They also like to Play Uno with me and my hubby. Do you have Chutes & Ladders? There is a Farming Game I was wanting to get the kids but haven't yet. Oh, check this site out: http://www.boardgamecentral.com/games/kids.html

Not that you would want to buy it but thought this was funny...I bought my daughter the Pretty Pretty Princess Game at a yard sale a couple weeks ago and her and my son will sit and play that for a long time and I crack up when I walk in and my son has this jewelry all over him and they are sitting there playing so seriously!

Speaking of Dora/Diego, lol...I got my kids this big box of Dora games - there were 4 card games (Old Maid, Memory, Rummy and something else), BINGO cards, checkers (with Dora as one side, Swiper on the other) and dominoes, and they love playing with those too. My nephew is 4 as well and looooves playing dominoes.

Here are a few I've had my eye on for my daughter (who turns three in a few months). I have not played any of them, so I can't give you an official recommendation, I just think they look cool. :) I found all of these at Amazon.

Oh man, I remember being a kid and at the beach with my grandparents. We used to pla Old Maid and Go Fish for HOURS. I WISH I had a picture of that.......

Those were my ideas! Ha ha! I know some games that are fun and active games that my preschool students love Hullabaloo (you follow the directions and it has a random winner) and EleFun (butterfly catching game). We also have been playing card games like Uno, Old Maid and War with my almost 5 year old. HTH!

BTW- LOVE your blog- glad to see you at SSD!

My son loves Cranium Cariboo too. That's a good one and different levels of difficulty, so the little ones can play it. It has a treasure hunting feel to it and a special key that you use to open the doors -- my son loves that. Both my kids also loved the Letter Factory game -- based on those videos.

We love Zingo at our house!

The little ones can play because they can match the pictures, and it's great for the beginning readers, too! And they all love getting to have a turn being in charge of the Zingo "machine" as they like to call it. :)

This has been mentioned, but we LOVE Cranium Hullabaloo!!! Love it. And they can play by themselves too.

Chutes and Ladders is pretty good. I'll have to try out some of these other ones!

In our house we love Balloon Lagoon, Sequence Jr ( 4yo DD even likes to play that by herself) and Yatzee Jr with Disney characters.

Keira has Lucky Ducks, she really likes it. It's a color and shape matching game, but it's really loud. LOL!

These are both popular around here!

Plus, UNO Attack is a huge hit - now that the boys are learning more #s they enjoy bingo (attention span is sometimes an issue, though), We also play Triominoes (with our own rules), war, and go fish.

Dude. I love Pretty Pretty Princess. My cousins and I used to play it for hours with my brother.... and we loved to make him wear the jewels. So fun.

SWWWEEEEET! My cousins and I used to play that for hours too and made our younger (male) cousin wear all the jewelry too! Very cool to hear I wasn't the only one...heheeeee!

Buckaroo is cool, Lukas loves that one we have a great one with a shopping trolley same idea as bukaroo but instead of loading up the donkey you load up a shopping trolley. Lukas has lots of games my nephew has given him so he has some that are really a little too old for him like junior monopoly and junior scrabble but he finds ways to amuse himself with them lol. As an alternative suggestion because options are always useful with kids lol If you feel like sharing the computer or are lucky enough to have more than one in the house there are some really great games online and on disks for little kids our favourites are www.bbc.co.uk/cbeebies, www.bbc.co.uk/cbbc (for slightly older kids), www.nickjr.co.uk, www.nickjr.com, www.disneychannel.co.uk, and there really are tonnes of others but I think all of these have arts and crafts and other things you can do together. Hugs Crystal xx
