Blog Ettiquette Question

Is it proper to ask before you use a layout as a GSO on your blog, or can you just do the GSO post and leave a comment on a layout you're highlighting letting the scrapper know that you've chosen it? I am asking because I want to do this right and be courteous , but I also like the element of surprise. I know it always makes me happy to have a GSO, so even though it is on something as small as my blog, I would hope it would make others suprised and happy.

I don't know what the right answer is, but the times I've been chosen for GSOs from various blogs, I've always just received a comment from the blogger letting me know I'm pretty low maintenance with that type of stuff, it doesn't bother me if people want to feature my pages, I take is as a compliment.

Ditto Sheri. It's a compliment to be featured in that way, and if people are posting their layouts in galleries, I don't see why it would bother anyone to be notified that they are being featured.

That is how I have always been notified is through a comment on the layout (not that it happens a whole lot LOL) but I take it as a compliment and it is always a really nice surprise.

That is what I thought, but I didn't want to assume anything and risk upsetting anyone. But since I want to do more GSOs, I think going forward, they will be surprises with the little comment. Less leg work means that I can post them more often. Thanks for the input Ladies. I sure do appreciate your time and responses.

Lorie, even I - who is extremely cautious about sharing pics in social networking sites like FB and Pinterest (esp. if they feature people other than me, particularly children) - am perfectly OK with blogs.

The point of this statement should have been that I don't think you need to ask people before featuring them.

I love that you're so dedicated to your blog now, as I have said, I love blogs! Will watch yours with pleasure.

I agree with the others too! Just a comment is what I've always received.

I agree... just a comment I always see it as a huge compliment, I am sure others will as well
