Black living room furniture -

Please tell me I can make it work!!! :D We went and bought furniture a couple weeks ago, and it's being delivered today. We aren't going to use it until we move - which is coming up soon. I wanted something in the brown family, but dh loved this soft black leather stuff. He talked me into it because it was soooo comfortable. I'm just clueless about how to match the rest of my living room with black. This is actually the first time we've bought furniture - until now, we've just had hand-me-downs lol until now, so I want to make everything match and look nice. We only got the sofa, loveseat and recliner, so no tables or anything yet. But, I hate black and glass :D I don't know why. Even black leather I was resistant too - it seems too young bachelor just moved out of his mom's house and has to have black leather furniture to me. Please convince me I can make it work and look like a comfortable adult home!!! I don't even have the first clue when it comes to matching/decorating!

oh you can do it!! look at pininterest. lol. :)
We have black leather furniture and have had it for almost 8 years. now with the dog, kids and 2 cats it is starting to wear a bit, but it still looks good! I am a bold color person - so we have red walls, black iron accessories and cherry wood end tables. for our lamps - they have an amber glass top and dark metal base (huge floor lamps). all my photo frames are black, but I have mixed in a few cherry woods and lighter woods. you can totally do it. i find it is all about finding that balance to not make the room too dark.

We have black in one room with a brighter, spring like green accessories amd pillow, etc. The walls are yellow, and the wood is black also. I get tons of compliments on that room.

Thank you - I'm glad to hear it can work!! :D Seriously, I've been stressing since we bought it that I'm going to end up hating it. I never even thought to check pinterest! I'm so color challenged I can barely manage to dress myself looking decent. I have no idea what 'goes' good together, so I just usually stay away from color or 'statement' pieces. I'm excited to see what I can find on pinterest!

We have a couch with black leather and grayish micro fiber cushions. I had many sleepless nights worrying over that couch before it was delivered!!! :p Turns out, black is very flexible. I think the key is keeping the wall color very light and accenting with pops of color (I chose a nice spring-y green). I ended up buying a floral rug from pottery barn for the room and it adds a softness and femininity to the hard black edges of the couch. It was hard to buy the rug, because it didn't "match" but I had seen a photo in a magazine so I wanted to get that look. Definitely check out pinterest!

we have a black leather Ikea set ... I hate black and glass too lol, but I do love this set. You can make it work, I promise! You can dress it and/or color it up with pillows, throws, accents, rugs, etc. You will end up loving it, especially since it will not stain!!

I would use red/black/white throw pillows and make the walls white with lots of red/black accessories OR go really bright with lime green and turquoise against the black with a little bit of white.

Tanyia- no stains was one of the deciding factors for sure!! With 2 6 yr olds we knew a light color wouldn't last as long :D. Jessica, turquoise or green sound like they'd look good! With green mentioned a few times, I'm definitely checking that out! You girls are definitely putting my mind at ease - I might really be able to pull this off lol!

im dying to buy a new lounge so i can get a black leather one! i want white walls, black lounge and tons of pops of colour. Im envisioning bright cushions, some subway art on the walls etc. Im jealous, i wish we could afford to do it right now!

My SIL had black furniture and it looked great. They had green as their accent color but its so flexible because everything goes with black. We have a black TV stand and a black end table and a black buffet in our room plus all black picture frames on the wall and a lamp with a black shade and a big fish tank with a black hood and black stand so I think black furniture might be a bit too much in our house, but then again, pop it with some color on the throw pillows and I bet it would even at that. As it is we have hunter green furniture which I hate but it was bought 14 years ago and it was the popular color choice at the time. LOL
