ok. so i tried to google and it's not going well :p LOL .. so pls help me.

Ce's bike is way too small-- it's been too small for a while but he doesn't ride it much so it never really mattered apparently.
but I want to get him a new bike but i'm really confused so I have some questions..

from my brief googling I find that there are 12, 16 & 20" bikes... there's nothing inbtwn those sizes right? that's it.. those are my choices period.. ? lol..

Ce is 4'+ i don't know his exact height atm.. but he hit 4' a while back, so probably taller now--so that's from what i can tell.. at the max height for 16 and lowest height for 20.. How do I know if the 20" is too big for him? Like I mean i'd guess I'd have to make him sit on it.. but after that how do i know if it's too big ? (really.. I am apparently clueless)

lastly.. do they make 20" bikes with like.. attached training wheels? He doesn't know how to ride without them yet.. Or should I just go for the 16" ? and hope he doesn't grow any time soon?

ty lol

hm i see 18" w/training wheels at walmart.. now i'm more confused :/ LOL...18 would idealy be best though-- I think.. if what I found for heights was accurate anyway.. oye @_@

We just got our newly-turned 6yo an 18-inch bike at TRU with training wheels, which will come off sometime this summer. She's tall (47") and it'll fit her for a little while. When she got on it, she could still touch the ground, but there's a lot of growing room still. Plus, the seat moves up too.

Emma is taaalllll. She's the size of a typical 6 year old. We got her a 20" for her birthday last summer. It was a little big for her then but now it fits perfectly. Her's came with detachable training wheels and we got it at WalMart.

If you can get him to sit on the bike, have him put his feet on the pedals. The lowest pedal should almost completely extend his leg so that his knee is just a tiny bit bent. Now most bikes also have adjustable seat heights so you'd want the seat to be all the way down for now so you can move it up as he grows.

We just broke out Luke's bikes yesterday. His 16" has training wheels- the seat is as high as it will go, so we're training him on this one and then he'll go to his 20" bike, which fits him perfectly.

You can get training wheels separately, but make sure the bike has a spot for them.

Luke turned 6 last month and was last measured at 4" (in November/December).

ty! this is exactly what i needed in regaurds to "fit" :D

thanks girlies!! and good to know i can get the training wheel things separate too.. I didn't even think about that *hand to forehead*

If you do decide to get the training wheels seperately though, make sure they fit! My parents bought Kaja a bike when she was 6, (not sure about the size, it was quite big), and I bought training wheels separately. It turned out though, as the bike had all sorts of fancy gears and brake systems on the back wheels, so no room for the training wheels! It was a loong summer of mummy running behind the bike until she finally got the hang of it without the training wheels!
