Best Blog Hosts??

Right now I have Typepad but I haven't done anything with it in about 3 years...not even an update! So, I want to resurrect it but, unless I'm missing something, I can't go back to the customized version unless I pay $14.99 per month! :blink: I can't justify that price...I think I used to pay about $7.

Is it possible to customize a Typepad blog on the "Plus" plan?
Who do you guys use to host your blogs and can you customize them?

I really don't know. I use Wordpress and I haven't customized my blog much, although I'm pretty sure there's a lot that I could do even with the free blog. I used to host my blog through HostGator and I was really happy with their service. I think the cheapo plan, which is plenty for just having a blog, is about the same that you used to pay. You might be able to host your Typepad blog through a web host, but I'm not sure.

With quick search, I found this article. It's old, written in 2008, so you might want to research a bit more, but seems like you can transport your typepad blog to wordpress.

If the blog is your only need for the website, you'll find many options for less than $5/month!

ETA: Found this link from the same site... about hosting under $5. I see one(webhosting pad) with only $2/month! We did host with that site once. I believe they had good service but we had to move from them due to high bandwidth, which should be non-issue for you.

I use Wordpress through my website. The domain name costs me $10 a year and the hosting is $6 a month. Not too bad for something that has almost unlimited storage and I can put as many blogs on it as I want!

I have a self-hosted Wordpresss blog. We use 1&1 as our website host. I thought about switching hosts about a year ago, but it wasn't worth the hassle that it would be. With that said, I don't have any real complaints about 1&1...we've used them since 2006 and they've been good to us, they're just not as well known as some other hosts. Bluehost and GoDaddy are some more popular options.
