Bedrooms

I'm in the process of trying to make our master bedroom look better because it's become a dumping ground for the things we don't know where to put. Now my sister and her boyfriend are coming to stay with the kids while hubs and I go on a short vacation to Vegas and LA.

I'm trying to figure out what to do up there. So I'm wondering - would anyone mind showing me what their Master looks like or what your bedding looks like? I keep second guessing myself as to what to do up there.

TIA if you have some pics to share. I guess I should take some so you could see what I'm working with - it's such a mess though :crying:

I usually keep ours pretty clean but I've been slacking on laundry (or working too much?) and I have no fewer than 5 hampers of folded clothes to put away.

Our room is a camel/tan color and dark plum/purple. I thought I would have a hard time getting hubby to agree to purple but he loved it right away. I used this color palette/inspiration with a few tweaks and although I have no light blue/teal in there yet I do have plans to bring some in. It's a constant work in progress

My room sounds like yours! I want to change it but don't even know where to start! It's a HUGE space, it's a huge mess and everything goes there... and I don't know where to put it! I'd love some inspiration too!

This is what ours looks like...

That's actually cluttered for us with the unemptied suitcase and random camping lamp, haha, but we also have a huge house for just the 2 of us so most of the clutter lives elsewhere. I'd really love to get some kind of storage bench for the end of the bed to hold the extra blankets (aka the black blobs on the floor on either side of the bed. :D).

I'm going to keep an eye on this thread. Our room is very blah. We have absolutely nothing on the walls. We have a vertical blinds on the sliding glass door and some black out curtains on the two tiny windows. The windows are really small and my DH was trying to reuse and recycle when he cut down our old black out curtains to make one window's curtains from the old house fit both windows here (so we could use the excess in the kids' rooms). We have what looks like a little scrap of white fabric just sitting on the wall. LOL I want real curtains, long ones to make the window appear larger. We don't have a head board. The walls are an off white color with a sort of mauve trim left from the previous owner (and pinkish carpet... they loved pink, apparently). The room is really long and the ceiling is vaulted and peaks at about 16'. The sliding glass door is right in the middle of the room on one wall and leads out to the balcony. The room has so much potential but we've done nothing with it yet. I have different shades of teal all over the house. My office is teal, the main bathroom is another shade of teal (darker), the living room is a really neutral beige with teal accents, DD's room will have teal (with lime green, hot pink and orange!) soon, etc. so I am thinking of adding teal in some form to kind of keep the flow. I recently bought a new set of sheets that are a dark grey. I'm thinking a 'greige' color for the walls, possibly black and white for the bedding set and pops of teal for accents. I really don't know yet. I just know I need to do something in there. :(

I am going to redo my bedroom suite in the spring and have started buying things for it, have to do it a bit at a time. I am going with a gray and yellow color pallette with just a touch of spring green. Here is the bedding set I picked up for a steal a few weeks ago.

I know I am going to chose gray for the walls, but have the sunny yellow sheets and I am looking for a yellow accent pillow that is ruffled and shaped like a rose. I love the process of choosing the perfect accents and artwork. :)

Our walls and furniture are very similar to this, too. Our furniture is a bit lighter and more reddish. Our comforter is tan, cream, and black. Unfortunately, that's as far as we got when we decided to redecorate last year. (We have terrible record when it comes to completing home projects, which is why my 8 year old still has a teddy bear border in his room. Bad us!) We have black, red, and cream accents sitting around waiting to be hung one of these days. I can't show you a photo because all our nice bedding is packed away until the weather gets colder, and I'm too lazy to go get it out for a photo.

We went with chocolate, tan and light green to match the palm tree pics you see leaning against the little door. The palm tree pics hung over our queen size bed for 9 years...

Now we have a low, king size and the two vertical pics don't work... So, until I get around to painting a horizontal series of three pics we have nothing above the bed.

Our bedroom is the one room I can't stand clutter (unlike the rest of the house... ) so it's usually fairly tidy...

I think the next redo we'll go with gray and blue...

(PS...the pinky walls, horrid fan and white carpet are compliments of our owners...we weren't allowed to change anything...)

We have a fairly large room (at least I think so, lol). We just purchased our house a few months ago, so the furniture is not necessarily what I would have chosen for the room, but it's what we have. I did get new summer bedding from Pottery Barn (I just adore their bedding). Anyway, good luck with your decorating!

not that you'll get much design inspiration from my closet  ... but you can get an idea of the ridiculous amount of clothes and shoes I have (the door on the right obscures an entire wall worth of dresses and the chest is full of shoes, in addition to the boxed shoes above it). It actually looks much bigger in person, it runs the width of our bed and two side tables, plus room on each side.
