Backblaze

I'm having some major computer issues that require it to go to the repairer under warranty tomorrow but I have no current backup of my supplies (naughty I know). My friend suggested Backblaze as that's what she uses but she isn't a scrapper so I have a few questions -

does it back everything up using the same folder hierarchy as the hdd?

Can I select certain folders only to back up?

What is the initial back up process like?

It backs up everything ! But depends on how much you have on your hard drive as to how long the first back up can take to complete. I had 3T total to back up between my hard drive and external drive (it includes your external drives that are regularly plugged in to your computer if you select it for back up) and the first time took a week or more I think.

You can select which folders to have backed up though if you want. It is not a replacement drive though, just a copy and after a month if something is missing from your hard drive it will delete it from the back up.

I had my external drive last year die on me and downloaded all my files (I opted not to have them send me a drive just because I wanted the free option and had time to do it). Other than taking time to do small parts each time I recovered over 2 T of files including digital supplies, word and office files, photos, raw files, and program files.

I used it last year. It took a good few weeks to back everything up, not sure if my connection played a part in the length of time it took.

On the site it says 2 to 4gb a day in a fast connection.

I tried Backblaze for a while, but I could never get my initial backup to fully finish. Now, I use Crashplan. It's a little more expensive ($5.99/month), but at least I know it's working. :p

i used to use BB...but didn't like that it only backed the past 30 days. so i switched to Crashplan and LOVE but just got an email that they will no longer support my OS :( so i have to upgrade my computer or find another back up plan.

Oh no! :( Which OS are you using?

Backblaze never seemed to be able to keep up with me. It was never fully backed up... and it dragged my computer down as it was always working in the background. We just bought a big back up drive and I move everything over once a week or so. I also use the paid dropbox subscription to backup my designs and photos.

I use Amazon Cloud's photo storage. It's inexpensive, quick, and has worked well for me for the past year. Right now I have the cheaper plan which gives unlimited photo (jpeg, png) storage, but I am thinking I might upgrade so that I have unlimited storage of all file types....my templates aren't backed up right now.
