Baby announcements vs. holiday cards

I'm trying to decide whether to send holiday cards and baby announcements together in the same envelope (or at least at the same time), just send baby announcements and skip the holiday greetings this year, or send them a week or so apart with the holiday cards going first. I don't want the announcement to be holiday related, so just sending 1 dual purpose card isn't an option. Does it matter which I do?

I was about to upload my holiday cards (purposely designed with a winter/new year theme in case I wait and mail them post-baby), but today the docs said they think I'll have this baby very soon, probably within the week. Now I don't know whether to have the cards printed or not!
 
I think you should print them, and include a baby announcement seperate but in the same envelope. No sense in wasting postage if you don't have to :)
 
Yay! Congrats on having your baby soon!! I'd send them together and save money on the postage. =)
 
My sister had her baby last year on 11 Dec and I think it just makes more sense to send a holiday birth announcement. I mean let's face it everyone wants to see the new baby more than just a holiday card! Here is the card I made for my sister last year that she sent out in lieu of a card:

I would go with the holiday announcement too unless you really love the other card you made then do both!!!
 
I had my baby on December 12th (she'll be two this year!!) and I opted to send out my holiday cards first (right after Thanksgiving) and then a separate birth announcement just before Christmas. I have a brother who's birthday is the 23rd, and his birthday is always overshadowed by Christmas stuff...I just want everything to be separate for my little girl. So I started with her announcement. :)
 
Mine probably isn't coming until after Christmas, so I decided (after talking to Mandy) to send Christmas cards early and then I'll send a birth announcement after she's born.
 
I would totally do two separate cards and mail them together. Saves you postage that way. Good luck with that baby coming!!!
 
Thanks, everyone! I don't want to do the combined holiday announcement because we're Jewish. I send non-Christmasy holiday cards because we get so many cards this time of year, but it doesn't have the same significance for us so I don't want to combine. Also, I have the boys' announcements framed with their handprints in clay in the playroom, so I want her announcement to be just about her so I can do the same with it.

Since it sounds like there's nothing wrong with sending them together, I think I'll wait and do that. It always felt a little wrong to me to send the cards out with no mention of the baby, but DH was strongly opposed to mentioning her on the card until she was actually born. Now I can wait and include her photo on it, too. :)

Sounds like a good idea to me! I would send them both together, but I would be doing it because I'm cheap!:o
