Awwww crap! Have you ever....

...forgotten to endorse a check that you deposited? I am thinking back to yesterday when I put in a check and I honestly don't think I endorsed the back. I didn't use the ATM and the bank teller didn't say anything. I needed that check so I could pay a credit card bill, but now I'm worried it won't clear because it might not be endorsed.

In my experience, tellers usually notice something that necessary. Have you tried calling the bank's CS to see what their policy on that is?

You are probably ok, but I would call them in the AM. Especially if it has your name on it and so does your checking account. They stamp the heck out of those checks when they come through.

we deposit un endorsed checks all the time... if you are depositing into an account that has the same name as the person the check is made out to than they usually don't care.

I'm sure it'll be fine. when I worked at a bank, we had a "for deposit only" stamp that we used when people forgot. no worries!

Up here we don't have to endorse it as long as the name on the account and the name on the cheque match. DH can even put in a cheque that is in my name into our joint account and take the money straight back out.

Another never endorser here. Most checks are made out to my husband and it's never been an issue even though I'm doing the depositing.

Don't know if someone said this already...

I used to be a banker at Wells Fargo. If it's unendorsed, it's assumed it's for deposit only into the account that bears the name of the payee. It's only a real problem when you're wanting to sign over checks or want cash back. So you're good!

In fact I NEVER endorse the checks we get. I always just write FOR DEPOSIT ONLY on them or leave them blank just on the off chance I drop one somewhere, that way no one else can cash them!

Oh, I only endorse the checks at the bank.... not ahead of time.

Anyways, I'm surprised so many of you don't endorse your checks because I was always taught to do that. lol
