oye. So I went to pick ce up @ school.. the school buses park in a row in front of the school- where we have to cross- no biggie. except for today. So one of the buses pulls out.. and I waited a second to make sure it was actually driving away and not jacking around or something right. So we're like.. 3/4 of the way across the cross walk and mr bus driver decides he wants to go back where he was instead and starts backing up. Obviously, buses beep when they back up... So this crew of bus aids that are laying (literally) in the lawn start screaming at me.. telling ME to pay more attention and that a bus is backing up. No crap I can hear it... Too bad you're all being losers and not paying attention yourselves- or you know, not doing your job cause NONE of you are on your buses and this driver is backing up blind.. It took everything in me not to turn around and yell back at them ^_^ but I decided to be the grown up and just finish crossing and get outa there. What a bunch of wackos.. seriously. How about yell at your dumbo friend. I mean Hellllllloo If I'm 3/4 of the way across before this bus decides to back up who do you think was in the right? yeh.. sheesh.

they dont have a dedicated area away from traffic and people for the buses? my kids schools all have a bus loop far away from any people/traffic. Like on the opposite side of the school. Usually even a seperate entrance. I do agree though the guy was an idiot. Busdrivers for the msot part it seems to me arent especially careful/good drivers. I cannot count the times one has almost ran us off the road or hit us in the rear or ran a stop sign/red light. I usually take the bus number and call it in to the district supervisor. Not sure it does any good but my kids are on some of those buses so I think they should drive a lot more carefully and hopefully they might think if they get talked to by their boss

yeh.. my ex use to do respite care with this one kiddo- and had to travel on the pub school buses with him-- I have YET to have a pleasant encounter with a city school bus driver :p They're all wacko here apparently..
and no, the school is really tiny- space is wicked cramped.. the buses literally take up the ENTIRE drive area.. like there's no way to even drive up to pick up your kid, I have to park down the street and walk up- which leads to way more near bus moments than is really safe imo for kindy & first graders. I mean there were kids EVERYWHERE when we were leaving.. I'm just glad it wasn't a lil kid dashing across the cross walk instead of us.

lol...I tend to yell back, too. Best sometimes to be the grown up though. Glad the bus didn't run you over! ;)

wow that is really not right. Im wondering why the school does not arrange it so the buses pick up first then leave then the parents come pick up. Even though the buses were in a different area then parent pick up at my sons school you still have to wait until after the buses leave to pick up your kids. They have the parents pull up in a line and the kids have to wait until you get to the front of the line to get in the car. Even if they can see you. They have several teachers assigned to dismissal duty to help it run smoothly. Maybe you and some of the other parents who might also be concerned about that could talk to the principal to see if they could work out anther way to dismiss the kids that would be safer?

I think technically.. the buses ARE supposed to pick up first. I know they line up the bus kids in the caf before the pick up kids. The bus drivers have been late for both drop offs and pick ups all week (the first day they were 25 minutes late for drop offs :/ ) It's all wacked. I'm hoping that next week things start getting .. a lil more orderly :p
