my doggie ginny.. passed away last night. Well she's technically my parents dog :p but they got her when I still lived there. She was like 12 yrs old, and the sweetest dog ever. Tiny lil 10lb dog, she was just so sweet, and loving. Ce adored her.. we're supposed to go see my parents today & he is going to be absolutely devastated. I don't even know how to tell him that she's passed away. She's better off now, she was in a lot of pain, her athritis had gotten to the point where she had to be pretty much carried around.. but it still so sad :[ I uploaded a piccie from my phone to my fb from the last time I was there for ce.......... I just don't know what to say to him.. :[ she was his lil buddy & helped him get over his dog fears and what not.
 
awww, La. I'm so sorry hon. I remember telling Cam when my mom's dog died. He took it better than I though. I basically gave him the "she was old and in pain" talk and the first thing he did was ask if Grandma was sad. :wub:

These "real life" moments are hard to teach kids.

There's a book that is great for children when pets (esp dogs) die. It's called Dog Heaven

We lost one of ours on Easter and this book helped a lot for my younger ones

hopefully Ce will handle it okay....

we just dealt w/ the same thing (sorta) my Dad's cat died the week after our visit to see them in FL.... so I told the kids that Omar had to go to Heaven. They were really sad, but they know enough about Heaven to be comforted in knowing he's okay and not in any pain any more and that we'll see him someday...

We've had to deal w/ way too much death over here though, so maybe they've had to deal w/ loss before this, so i'm guessing that helps.

Im sorry!! I know how tough it is to lose a pet. I had a hamster for 2 years and he stopped eating and then like a day or two later he just died. I was devastated! Hope he will take it better then you expect. Maybe getting him a framed photo to keep in his room will help
