Arm Hair

What do you do with your arm hair, if anything? It seems, we, as women, take care of the hair on every part of our bodies except our arms. Do you do anything with yours? I hate mine, its very light, but long.
 
Mine is like yours, but darker colour. I don't do anything to it. We, Asians, don't seem to terribly care about it. I do shave armpit hair though.
 
I used to shave mine... but then I had kids and I now almost never get to shower alone. So now mine just does its own thing and I feel lucky if just my armpits get shaved.
 
Never occurred to me to shave it. It's not noticeable though unless the sun reflects off it. Michael says he can't even feel it. Maybe I'm an odd duck.
 
I shaved it for about a year until one day I smacked myself into reality. I ain't got time for that! Why am I taking the time to voluntarily shave one more thing that most women I know don't shave?!?! It's not like it bothers DH. It's not blonde so you can see it, which is why I got self conscious about it and started shaving it in the first place... but it's not bad, not black or long, so I just let it grow free.
 
Okay. Glad I'm not alone. I was thinking I somehow missed this grooming practice and was horribly socially unacceptable with arm hair.

This is me too, very light colored, very light textured and I hardly notice it's there. In the summer I get fairly dark and the hair gets even lighter and in the winter it's cold here so I never wear a short-sleeved shirt anyway :D
 
See, I do nothing to it either, but I wonder if someone is looking and saying, jeez, why doesn't she take care if that. Lol
 
You got me all self-conscious about it now, Mari. I seriously had never thought about it. When did women start shaving their arms? I totally missed the memo.
 
my sister shaves hers (but she's a chef and I think she fears people will be looking at her arm hair and grossed out...she has very thick and dark arm hair), but I just don't do anything. *shrug*
 
All of my friends shaved their arms once we all started shaving, but then they all had long dark arm hair. I can't remember how they talked me into it, because my arm hair is super fine and blonde, but I did it up until I had Zach.

I don't know that it's really a "thing." I started doing it in college after a friend mentioned she shaved hers. I never liked my arm hair so I thought I'd try it and well, that was 13 years ago, so I must like it, haha. I kept doing it because I liked that without the hair, you can really see my freckles and I love the way it feels when it's all smooth. But maybe I'm just weird. :D

I just do mine in the shower when I shave everything else. The hair grows slow so it takes like maybe a minute every few weeks to do so I don't see it as taking any additional time out of my day. Eyebrow maintenance and waxing is way more annoying. :D

Me almost to a T! I tried that and no clue why! Mines a very very light blonde so its not noticable really. I hope that's not the latest trend, cause I'd rather be uncool! :/
 
I have really dark arm hair, its really fine but super dark and long and i have majorly pale skin - it has bugged me all my life but I have never shaved it because I so don't what to have to keep up with it - its easier to hide my legs if they are shaggy and pokey.

Recently though a friend told me that she just keeps hers trimmed shorter with a trimmer and when i tried it i could not believe how much better it seemed, just a beard or hair trimmer at its shortest length basically, recently I bought this on amazon for myself though, and I love it, i use it to keep "other areas" a bit more under control in the length dept. too ;)

See, mine did not grow slow. I had to shave my arms whenever my legs needed shaving, which was about daily. :p
 
You can't see the hair on my arms. I have hardly any under my armpits either. I didn't know women shaved their arms either. Now I have to ask all my local friends if they do it as it's never come up in conversation, even though other shave-able areas have. ;)

I shave my legs every day though and don't really know what it would look like long, since the last time I skipped a day was when I was in the hospital having my twins, almost 15 years ago.
 
mine is super long, super dark, and thick so I tend to nair it off every once in a while. I'mm too lazy to shave it regularly
 
Huh. Learn something new everyday. Mine is not long and it's super light, and it sure doesn't block my freckles... so maybe that's why I never thought about it. Interesting.
 
I have to give a little thumbs up to you for starting this thread. I've seriously wondered myself over the years. I had a friend in Jr. High who started shaving her arms. She was really blonde but had really long arm hair so you could see it. She would get all stubbly between shaves though and I thought that was kind of gross. Then I read that if you start shaving it you always have to save it because it won't return to the light, fine, hair that you originally had. I've been afraid to test it. At times my arm hair really bugs me. Most of the time I don't notice it, but now and then, when the light is just right, I feel like a dang gorilla!
 
I remember mine being very dark back in high school but didn't do anything about it. Now it's not really noticeable at all. My daughter (21) shaved hers all throughout high school because it bothered her. It wasn't really dark or at least I didn't think so. She just graduated college, will start grad school. I noticed that she stopped shaving it. She said she just didn't have the time anymore and that when she stopped it grew in lighter and doesn't bother her anymore.
 
people shave their arms?? hmph. who knew. i guess i'm just lucky and don't have much body hair to speak of.
 
Mine are long and dark in some places on my arms and blond and long on others. So i just wax the areas that bug me and ignore the rest.
 
I'm pretty hairy but the hair on my arms isn't very long or course and it's practically invisible. I've never considered shaving.
 
Very interesting thread. I shaved my arms in high school when I was on the swim team before meets. We would have a shave party and the whole team would help.

I don't shave my arms now. It doesn't really bother me except for when my kids decide to play with the hairs and pull on them a little.
