Anyone taught a digi scrapping class?

My MIL's friends have asked that I give them a little class on digi scrapping, I haven't started working on what exactly I'll teach them yet. Any ideas?

First off I know I have to download elements and play with it, since I've never used it.

I have... keep it simple. If the person hasn't used Elements, and other digital scrapbooking software or even used PowerPoint... the whole layer thing will be a hard concept to understand... so I would recommend teaching a newbie by using a template and clipping masks.

Using PSE shouldn't be too challenging for you. Most things work like you would expect them to, especially for scrapping (vs. photo editing).

Though its tempting to start with a template, I would focus on setting up a 12x12 page, talking about the tools, showing the layers palette, placing a paper, cropping a photo and placing embellishments. You can introduce clipping masks with the photo cropping.

I haven't taught a class, but I have taught some friends. I started with just the simple explanation of how to find online kits, download and unzip; open and drag paper and elements; how to move and resize. And how to apply a very basic drop shadow. Finally, a little about clipping masks to use templates.

Get in touch with Megan Turnidge! She wrote up a fantastic simplified tutorial that she used for her class at church.
