Anyone sold their paper supplies?

I have literally thousands of dollars in paper scrapping and stamping supplies. It was collecting dust in my and since the move, it's now all in boxes. DH is getting a bit annoyed so I prolly should find a home for it since I will most likely never use it again.

I concidered giving it all to the arts & crafts center on base, but then I though... why not try to make a buck? Unfortunately, I have no clue what the best way to go about it is.

Anyone else sold their paper supplies? How'd you do it? Was it worth the hassle? TIA for your help.

I still have lots of my paper supplies (which really isn't all that much), just in case I get the paper bug again (I don't think that will ever happen)....and I think it would be fun for the girls to play with and just have fun with. I did sell all of my stamping stuff last year (I sold over 30 sets along with stamp pads and other accessories) - I sold it on ebay in one big lot and was SOOOOOO happy that I did!!

I saw alot of scrapbooking stuff on craigs list. It is sold at a huge discount so I wouldnt expect to make as much as you spent but you can get some back. Another option would be to sell on ebay but if you do hybrid with your scrapbooking you should still be able to use some of your paper supplies. One other thing that I would suggest is to put a notice up...maybe somewhere on base or even in your local library?

I sold all my paper supplies, I too had TONS and I made over $1K by selling it. I only kept a few tools and supplies for hybrid projects but sold/gave away 98% of it. I sold it on a few sites like Splitcoast Stampers and Scrappertalk.com. It's amazing how much you can make from selling it. I sold most of my stuff in lots and basically got 50% of what I paid for it, which was perfect for me because I just wanted $$ to invest in digi. For brand new things you can also try Ebay but then you have to deal with all the fees and such, it's just easier and most times faster to sell on community boards. You could also try Craig's List, not sure if you'll get hits, I know not many ladies look for scrap stuff on there in my area but it's worth a try. And then the things that you can't sell you could try donating, there are many places like churches and old folks homes who could use them.

That's another reason I sold only the stamps and not the paper stuff - I knew I could get a nice chunk of change for all the stamping stuff because it was either very gently used or never used at all (sad, I know). I knew on ebay if the right people were looking for the Stampin' Up stuff, they would know what a deal they were getting. I didn't think I'd get very much for my paper stuff.

I have a gazillion stampin up sets, but I don't think I have the boxes anymore... and not sure I'd know what came together. lol I wish I could just toss it all on ebay or something for like $1500 and be done with it. lol

You could try Laura, you really have nothing to lose, just take a picture of them all in a pile. And the two forums that I listed are great for lots of stamps as well. You can only post retired SU items on Splitcoast Stampers though so if any of your stamps are current your post will get removed - just a heads up. Give Craig's List a try too, that way someone wouldnt' have to pay shipping of them all - so they just might jump at them.

I feel your pain. I had 8 boxes that I packed up when I found digital and LOTS of money in those boxes! I sold some to the ladies that I scrapped with then packed the rest up. I had wanted to try to find a consignment sale for scrapbooking but just never took the time and now we are moving and so I just took over like 4 boxes of stuff to a good friend and neighbor of mine that I used to scrap with and lets just say I totally made her day and I truly felt so good to do it. I would have loved to make some money off of it to buy new digital goodies but I was glad to just get rid of some of it.

I kept some things because I think I may try some hybrid and I thought my embelli's would come in handy. I also sold some stuff on ebay a while back and made some BIG money with that but it was things like a cricut machine and quickutz tool. I still have another cricut machine anad a couple big items like that I will try to sell on ebay or soemthing like that. I would definitely try that! It was so worth my time!

WOW Paula - one person paid that much???? Or you sold it in lots to different people?

I got $300 from one lady for a TON of stuff and then the rest I sold in lots and was just happy to see it go. I also gave away 3 boxes to a local church.

I'm thinking of getting rid of my stuff....I have TONS of brand spankin' new stamp sets and stamp pads (not even opened yet) from Stampin' Up. I ordered them a few weeks before I started digi and never bothered to open them....

ladies ladies ladies...i have so much stuff in my garage and my mini warehouse b/c i had a store..as a matter of fact..i was just out in my garage rearranging it so we can walk and see if there are snakes out there before we step on them..NICE HUH! i would just like nothing more than to BURN all of my stuff..and may JUSt do that someday :) my pictures would make y'all cry...i wouldn't care if someone gave me $25 for it..i just want it OUTTA HERE! I wonder if people would actually PUT it on ebay or craigs list for you..i have no time :) or maybe i do..i just choose NOT to use it selling my scrap stuff :) it is PRETTY disgusting..YUCK! now..i think i will treat myself to some good ole' tex mex and margaritas to drown my sorrows........

ps...right about the time that this thread probably started..i think i was probably out in the garage chunking my store sign in DA trizash......exactly where it needs to be...the DUMP!

ugh..what a flippin' waste...i am so going to try those sites that are on here..anymore would be AWESOME to hear about :) thanks!

WOW Ash! You definitely have to spend a bit of time to sell it, man if you have that much stuff you could even do a scrapbook yard sale, lots of ladies would go to that. Try advertising at local scrap stores, and store bulletin boards.

Try doing some flea markets too, churches and schools do some great ones and I'm sure you'd get someone to snatch it all up. Better get a couple $$ from it then it just sit there.

Oh and also I'm sure if you advertise for someone to list it all for you on ebay you'd find someone, I used to so a similar service years ago.

Another place to look to advertise your stuff is on meetup.com, find scrap groups or mommy groups in your area.

It feels so good to purge all those unused supplies, you'll be so happy you did it!!

I don't want to get into paper and never did actually. But now that I spend so much time here, I'd like to do a hybrid here and there and can't b/c I spend all my money on kits! :D

Good luck to you in selling it all!

I've actually concidered a scrapping yard sale... but wouldn't know where to begin to with displaying everything and pricing it all. We're talking 2 racks frull of paper, 2 of those little tool drawer thingies full of alphas & embellies, ever color of stampin up ink, nearly ever stamp set up until about 3 years ago, every jar of prima flowers, 2 drawers full of apha stickers... and that's just the stuff I can think of. I even have stacks of monthly kits I never even opened. Before I went digi, I had an entire room dedicated to paper scrapping. I'm surprised DH doesn't make me work off the money I've wasted. lol

Paula, please tell me how you sold your stuff for that much?

Thanks for this thread! I have SO SO much scrapping stuff and I've long been pondering what to do with it all. For some reason I've been dragging my feet on selling or giving anything away, but I need to buck up and face the fact that I've gone digi and I'm never going back. LOL.

So I'm feeling newly inspired to purge thanks to this discussion.

If any of you ladies have tools or things that might be of use to the hybrid scrappers among us, (ribbons, buttons, chipboard, alphas etc.) post a little list in the hybrid forum here and see what offers you get! I'm shopping for tools now - I bought myself a cute circle cutter this morning!

I was looking at the scrapping supplies, and nearly CRIED when I saw that a simple chipboard alpha would be $8.99!!! I've never paper scrapped and only do a little bit of hybrid because of the cost.

Good luck selling things girls. :) If any of you lived around me, I have friends who would TOTALLY buy from you!

ahh yeah...i can HOOK you up sista...i have TWO HUGE TUBS of ribbon...we are talking THOUSANDS of yards of ribbon...............i may just start a blog with all this stuff on there...and take it off as y'all pick it up??! would that be something that y'all would frequent..i could put..hey..i just added some goodiez and MORE crap to my blog....

I have an entire scrap room full of stuff...I just started digi, so I'm not thinking about dumping it all yet. But a couple of years ago I sent out an email to all my friends and told them to forward it to anyone they want. Then I had a dollar sale inside my house - everything was $1 with paper 5/$1. A few things I put higher like stamps sets. Then I just spread everything out on tables and chairs with the paper being in totes. I ended up making around $1000. And that was just for the stuff I didn't want. It didn't even scratch the surface to what I have.

Another thing you can do is open up an Etsy shop (www.etsy.com). The fees are much more reasonable than eBay. I have 3 shops on there - one for artwork from my sister and I, another store just for her children's artwork, and then one for supplies. I put a few scrapping supplies up there, but didn't keep up with it and now it's empty.

Getting into hybrid like I am I'm currently shopping for embellishments, tools, inks, ribbons (big fettish there), flowers.. oh how I love prima and just about anything I can use to go w/ digi for off the page projects. So I'm sitting here drooling over this thread lol

Add in my girls are taking a liking to paper scrapping (they are not computer savy at all and love the hands on stuff) and it is a double interest for me.

I agree with trying a stop over at the hybrid forum and try dangling some of your goods in front of us hybriders and see if you don't get a few bites. I for one will be right at the front of the line.

Not yet, they're all boxed up in the garage. I don't know whether to sell it now or wait till DDs get older so they can make some crafts with them.

I have a whole room dedicated to paper scrapping and haven't hardly touched it in a couple of years...other than when I want to do something with my Cricket die cutting machine. The kids have used supplies for school projects and now that I am homeschooling...they will probably use a tiny bit for lapbooking. However I know they won't use it all...I don't generally do hybrid because I am sooooo far behind on my kids' books that I don't have time to do little "projects" that will sit around. I'd rather get the books caught up...some day maybe...and I just am really picky on what I do pick to do.

I gave a friend that does ebay all my stamps (boxes) back in May so she could ebay them and was going to give her more than she usually charges...but she has yet to put one thing up for sale yet because of family happenings (which I understand)....but would still like to get it gone...had had hopes she would do all the stamps and then start on all my other supplies. drats!

I sold most of my patterned paper, stickers, etc paper scrapping supplies on ebay a couple of years ago. It was a pain, but at least I got rid of it and got a little money for it! :)
