My daughter who graduates from College in CA next month, got her first job offer. It is in Wichita, Kansas. That is one state I have never been to, nor know anything about. If she accepts she would have 1 week after graduation to find a place to live and move there. We would love to help her more, but we are taking the whole week off for her graduation (travel, seeing a few last places in CA before she leaves etc). My husband wouldn't be able to take another week off right away. Plus we are saving up time off for the wedding and everything related to that. PLUS, she doesn't own a car. We knew she would need one when she graduated, but we didn't know where she would end up, so we figured we had time....not anymore. So, anyone in Kansas willing to tell me about the area? Things to do? Things to see? etc?

My son was in Sterling, KS for his freshman year in college before he transferred back to AZ. I flew into Wichita a couple of times. I don't have a local perspective but as a visitor, it was challenging to find something to do for a short time. I stopped by the Mid-America All-Indian Museum so I could connect with some local Native Americans (which I did). It's next to the Arkansas River. There is a Keeper of the Plains statue there. Across the river is the Exploration Place science museum which looked interesting but we didn't stop there. We also traveled over to the northeast part of town to Chisholm Creek South Park so we could walk some trails and see the Tunnel of Trees.

I did find this on IG that might be helpful https://www.instagram.com/wichitamoms/?hl=en

Thank you Ophelia! I know she said the theater was right on the water, so I will have to pass that information onto her, for something to look into! How wonderful that you were able to make some connections when you were there! Thank you for the link also, will look into it!

Libby Pritchett a former babe & designer use to live there, I think she's still in the area. If you're FB friends with her, she'd be a great resource.

We've been to the eastern side of Kansas, not close to Wichita at all, Galena, it was cool. It's on Route 66, and that's the little town they found the tow truck that inspired Mater from Cars, so they have a whole bunch of Cars characters in town. But, I doubt you'd have time to drive the 3 hours east if you're on a tight timeline, maybe in the future though if she ends up out there. It wasn't far from Branson, MO, that's why we went, we took a detour on spring break one year to hit KS and OK.
