Anyone here use a webcam?

My sister and dad and I all bought webcams. We've hooked them up using yahoo messaging and it works pretty well but the cams occasionally lock up on us. I was looking into using skype - anyone have any recommendations as to which is better before I go off and download skype?

Does everyone have to have skype to communicate or if one person has skype and someone else has yahoo, can they communicate with each other?

Skype works great with a webcam. I'm pretty sure everyone needs to have Skype (you can't contact anyone on Yahoo etc) though I don't know 100% for sure...

DH and I use skype too..I think as far as video conferencing it's probably a little better than yahoo..but really we learned the hard way that if you don't have a really good camera..you're going to have lag and freeze ups...we finally splurged on really good webcams

you all have to have the same thing to communicate. I've used Skype but mainly use AIM Pro

I have a web-cam on my laptop and use it will family members. We just use Windows IM. I am sure that is not the best option, but we don't use that much and it gets the job done.

we use oovoo. I have an old cheap webcam and the picture is horrible, but it never locks up.

We just did a 3 way with my dad and sister and I and no one got locked up this time and we could all hear each other. It was pretty neat. I've downloaded skype and my dad has it as well so we may try this and see which one we like better. Thanks for the input!
