anyone have a Nikon Coolpix P80? Help!

So, my dad just got a Nikon Coolpix P80 today and it isn't working right. And I know nothing about this camera and it's seriously hard to figure it out from the manual. :blink: So, when he takes a picture, it will just FREEZE. Seriously, for about 1 minute, it is stopped. You can't see the picture, you can't turn it off, you can't take another pic, nothing. It's just stupid! So, anyone have experience on this? He'd love to take some pics tonight of my son's Christmas concert, but we are stuck!

Maybe go online and see if there's a firmware update for it?

I have the P80 and I have never had that happen before. Mine makes a noise when it's trying to focus, which I find strange, but it has never frozen on me. Sorry I can't be of help. Where did he get it?

Well, I think he just ended up with a dud. He got it at Costco, so he'll be returning it tomorrow. It's just too bad that he couldn't get it to work out. I gotta say that Nikon lost a customer.
