Anyone have a bio-ethanol fireplace?

Yeah, that's kinda how I'm feeling right now, too. The Netherlands still use radiator heating and it SUCKS and is so darned expensive it's ridiculous. We could have put a real woodburning fireplace in except that the morons from the utility company put the exhaust pipe for the furnace up my freaking chimney without asking and it would cost a small fortune to make them come change it back.

We have gas logs in our house..not sure if that's the same thing as what you're talking about..but I love them..they easily warm our entire downstairs during the winter and I rarely run the central heat during the day when they are on. We just filled our tank this week at 1.67 a gallon which was down nearly a dollar from last year.

No, Nikki, it's not the same thing. With gas logs you still need ventilation and we have no additional ventilation possibilities. With bio-ethanol there is no ventilation needed and you can put it anywhere in the house you want it. And since our heating is already gas fueled the cost wouldn't be any better for us. Not to mention that it's an older brick home with virtually NO insulation, which is something we need to do, but that has to wait until after our trip to the US next spring. Thanks anyway though.
