Anyone else in a hot climate?

I really struggle with all the lovely fall and winter layouts I see. Anyone else in a climate that stays basically the same all year round when you scrap chronologically?

How do you create layouts that have some variety when the weather is always the same? ugh. I miss fall so much. ;)

I would hate that too. I live in a climate where we get every season (sometimes in one day!) I don't think I could live somewhere that didn't get Fall or Winter- but I love to vacation to the sunshine during our cold or rainy times of year! ;)

As far as scrapping, I don't do chronological for that reason. I'm still pulling old photos of the kids' fall activities, since they are teenagers now & not into doing some of the things we used to! Occasionally I will scrap other people's photos for them if I'm in a pinch too!

I live in South Florida so it's still hot and just as rainy as during the summer. I love to bust out the snowflake elements when scrapping our lack of snow. There are a few tropical Christmas kits that I am slowly collecting as well. For fall, I lean into the pumpkins and apples instead of leaves and scarves. I also go over the top for Halloween but I would even if I lived somewhere with autumn breezes ;)

I'm not going to lie though, when I saw a red maple that was actually RED in the park, I made my husband stop the car so I could take a photo.

I live in South Africa... we don't get fall as in the USA so I battle with those sort of layouts... and we have a summer Christmas so don't like using snow kits for my Christmas photos either... I feel your pain!

I'm in Australia so I struggle with some things too. We have the four seasons but they are not as pronounced as in other parts of the world. Our summers are hot, Autumn is just slightly cooler than summer but we don't have as much of the beautiful yellow and orange colours since our native trees are green all year round. Our winters are cold and wet but we don't get snow here and then spring is just 3 months of alternating between winter and summer like days. We also have the issue that our Christmas is in Summer and Easter is in our Autumn.

You can always use those climate-specific kits off-themed, taking the generic elements and papers to whip a very pretty page. :)
While I live in a four season country, sometimes, those seasonal kits are not matching the weather I have at the time they are releasing, so I try to be creative and out of the box about it. For example, there are always lots of summer kits about swimming, camping, etc., which we, as a family, don't really do, but it should not stop me from scrapping with those kits, because our designers always make them so gorgeously that it's hard to resist scrapping with them.

I lived in So Cal until 8 years ago when we moved to Idaho. I used the seasonal kits just because I loved the "idea" of seasons :D Maybe mix kits - beach with fall or Christmas, etc?

I live in the Florida Panhandle, so in the Northwest, about an hour away from Mobile, Alabama. We do get cool weather, but our snow events are odd occurrences. We had record snow in January of 2025, and I have so many photos that I'm "holding" for just the right kits that will be coming out this season. :D As far as fall, sometimes there are ornamental trees that turn bright colors, but for the most part, it's just brown when all the tropical foliage dies off. Not the pretty fall foliage seen in four season areas. Now I can have AWESOME beach, river, lake, creek, and pool photos, all year-round.

I'm not a chronological scrapper, so I have photos that I still haven't scrapped from when we went north for fall photos. You'll see me scrap photos from the current time to several years ago. So I do have a group of photos waiting for just the right collections.

This is the first layout I've made about the 2025 Snowstorm. I have HUNDREDS of photos. :D

This layout includes photos that are photos of my puppers. I did take the photos in September, but they don't really have anything to do with fall, except for the Dollar Tree dog toys that match the framed critters from Traci Reed's collection.

This layout was taken on our anniversary in October of 2021. The only fall thing about it was our outfits. You can see the tropical foliage in the background. We were staying at a condo on the beach.

Here's another of my daughter (Olivia of Studio Liv) that I took in October of her senior year in a field of cotton that was across the road from her high school.

Here are a few of reading that are photos taken in the fall, but don't necessarily include fall foliage or landscapes.

This layout uses a winter collection by Kristin Cronin-Barrow. Photos were taken in October, but were definitely not winter by any stretch of the imagination. There was that incredible sky and her collection was PERFECT for it.

I hope these examples will give you some ideas.

I lived in Las Vegas for 4 years. And I found that while we didn't have the seasons that I do again in Indiana, there were still changes. The trees lost their leaves in December instead of Sept/Oct. The critters changed, the outfits changed. Not as drastic, but they change. For me, I had to learn to appreciate it in a different way. Like I really loved when the kids had a water fight for Thanksgiving. So, I scrapped that with a fall kit, because it was fall and it's fun to see water on a day you think of as cold.
