on how to make realistic shadows on things like lace? I find that no matter what I try, it does not even resemble realistic.

i normally switch the blending mode to linear burn and change up the actual color of the shadow based on the color of the layer behind it. trial and error, at times, but those are the two things that make the biggest difference for me.

I'm with ya there - I usually end up settling for less than awesome results on that. It's a shame too because I LOVE lace on my pages. Same with doilies. I'll have to try some of those suggestions.

I always make shadows on lace smaller than average with less spread...I make it shadowed more like tape than paper...like this (I always just eyeball it, I don't use the same settings every time) & as Linz says with play with the blend mode/opacity of the shadow to make sure it's not too dark

This is so me too! Never looks realistic enough!

I wrote up a shadow tutorial HERE that has a link to Krystal's shadow actions. She has a lace one that I use all the time. Actually I use all her shadows on my layouts.
