And so it begins...

We saw the flyer for the Hallmark Elsa ornament the day that Hallmark posted it in the store so we have one on order for Rachel. She saw it and all of her other choices flew out the window. LOL.

I always take my son to the store to pick his own ornament out. It's fun to see what he chooses! When he was small he picked trains or Winnie the pooh. Last year he picked a Star Wars ornament!

For those looking for Elsa or other Frozen ornaments, ToysRUs has some. The Elsa sold out already at ours but then more came in. I don't think of ToysRUs as place to get ornaments so I just wanted to put it out there in case you are looking but I would go quick or even call ahead.

I'm an early shopper....in my dreams. Seriously though, I'm usually out buying gifts on Christmas Eve. I have been doing a little better lately, and I'm pretty proud of myself - I do have 3 gifts bought already. I love shopping on Amazon, so that's where 90% of my gifts will come from I'm sure.

For those of you struggling with gifts for tweens outgrowing toys, I think I'm going to get mine magazine subscriptions. They've never had one before (other than the free Lego Magazine) and I think they'll like getting it all year. I'll probably get my 11 year old Sports Illustrated for Kids and my 8.5 year old Ranger Rick.

I usually shop early. This year I think I am buying 4 iPads for Christmas and calling it done. Either that or 3 iPads and a bed. My 12 year old said she'd rather have a new bed.

I am SO tired of buying toys for these two. They rarely play with toys so no sense in buying them.

That is so funny! My 13 year old niece asked for a new bed too!

Many months ago, we pre-ordered some awesome toy swords for our kids through a Kickstarter campaign, so I guess I started Christmas shopping in the spring. I picked up a Rainbow Loom and Perler Bead Sets for my daughter over the summer. And I snagged a really good deal on a huge car/road play rug for my son on Amazon in August, so I'm on my way! I have all the other purchases planned and added to my wishlist so I can purchase along the way. I hate doing big purchases, so I like spreading out my spending over several months so I don't ever really feel a hit from it.

This is actually an awesome idea. My girls are 6 & 8 and are getting to be a bit sort of bored with toys. They asked for dolls mostly (Ever After, Monster High etc.) which I'll get a few of for them both, but I've also said I'll get some shelves put up in their room specifically for doll display so they can all constantly be on show & kept nice instead of being shoved away half the time, they were really excited when I suggested it haha. But yeah, I will definitely look into a magazine subscription for them too, it's something different and guaranteed to put a smile on their face when the new one comes in!

I haven't really started to buy anything yet, but I'm starting to compile the lists together.. I'm really lucky in a way as we have a pretty tiny family compared to most, I'll probably give the family a copy of this years school photo & I'm making a general photo book of the kids for my mum & for my grandparents. But, we lost both my nan & grandpa in the space of 3 months this summer and I imagine it will be extra strange and painful for family members as it would be my Grandpa's birthday on Christmas day too so I'm thinking of maybe a mini photo book with photos of those two in as well.

WHEN DID IT GET TO OCTOBER ANYWAY?!
