An update on me with pictures

Hi,

We have weathered the actual storm, but the real trial is now. We have no power (or hot water) and are told not to expect any for 7-10 days. There are long lines for anything like gas, water or food.

We are muddling through but we're cold and my poor baby just doesn't understand. The older two think it's an adventure but it will wear thin on them soon.

Any good thoughts welcome.

Yowzers! I'm so glad you all are OK! Been thinking about you the last couple days.

Most of the deaths I saw reported were from people being hit by falling trees. So scary! Hope your neighbors are safe!
 
I wanted to add that so many I know have lost so much. My friends lost their house, the entire first floor is destroyed. My other friends lost both of their cars, they were completely submerged.

But everyone is OK and that is all that matters. We are piling on the blankets and eating by candlelight. And praying that the power comes back sooner than estimates.
 
Thank goodness you and your family are safe! Those pictures are incredible and really show how devastating the storms really were.
 
Wow...I've been glued to the news while I'm at home and the devastation is just unreal.

I'm so glad that you and your family are ok...hope that you don't have to live without power for too much longer!
 
I've been thinking of you Alisa! I'm glad you are all okay and didn't suffer any great damage to your home/cars, etc. I know what it's like to live without electricity for weeks on end and it stinks! I will wish hard for a speedy restoration of power!
 
Glad to hear you are ok. If you havent already unplug appliances because a friend of ours lost their home in 2004 when the power came back on it caused a bad surge and started a fire. It can of course also just ruin the appliances. We went through the power situation in 2004 in the middle of summer...hopefully they can get the power on quickly and the lines will die down somewhat. I know they had people bringing in ice and water for us because it was summertime and we are on wells. I am guessing ice is not such a huge problem for you though. Keep us updated!
 
wow Alisa glad you and your family are safe. That 2nd photo with the uprooted tree and cracked sidewalk is super scary!
 
Oh my!!!! Glad that you are safe. Sending you P and PT. Hopefully the utilities will be back up sooner than expected and that there is no further damage.
 
I'm so glad to hear you are ok. I can't imagine what everyone is going through that has been affected by Sandy. We got a lot of rain and some crazy winds from it which was strange because we never feel much from hurricanes.

I'm sorry to hear about the losses that your friends have suffered.

Sending lots of prayers your way and towards the others affected.
 
Thank goodness you are ok. Hopefully they will be able to get everything cleaned up and back in order quickly.
 
That is just terrible, but so glad you are okay. Hoping for power to come back to you sooner than you expect. Mother Nature can be a terrifying thing when she wants to be :(
 
Thanks for the update! My family in NY and CT have been sharing some crazy stories of the devastation and power outages, too. I'm glad that your family is okay and am sorry for your friends who had so much property damage. I hope the power comes on soon; it's so hard when everyone is cold and you're struggling to keep your family fed.
 
I'm so glad you are ok! Those fallen trees are soooo scary!

I was getting worried when we didn't hear anything from you! It's so hard having babies during times like this! I've been praying for you and everyone who is still suffering from the wrath of Sandy. How widespread is the outage in your area? Do you even know? When we lost power last October we ended up staying with some friends for the last night of our outage. Had we known it was the last night we wouldn't have, but the tree was still down and transformer had exploded, so we thought it would be longer and our poor baby was cold all night even sleeping in triple pajamas and between us in our bed. We probably should have pulled out the sleeping bags.
