I can't believe we haven't been chatting about this yet :p

I have to say I've been pleasantly surprised so far with Ellen as a judge..I wasn't so sure when they first announced her but she seems to take it very seriously and her comments are WAY better than anything Paula ever offered don't you think?

I can't be alone with my early fave Casey :)...He has soo got that "1994 Brad Pitt hanging on my wall in my dorm at college" look.

There seems to be a lot of good talent this year...of course anything will beat last year.

i don't recall casey, but i will admit that i am liking ellen. i am not not a fan, but she is likeable.

eta - just went and looked. yes, yummy.

I haven't watched last night's episode yet but I do have it recorded. Does anyone have any favs yet?

I haven't really warmed up to any one particular contestant but I'm sure that'll change in the next few weeks! However, Noel Turner is a Brevard County resident so I'm definitely showing support for our local contestant.

I don't know that I have any favs yet, but I do think that some of the top 24 shown last night were weird picks. I know alot of it is more about image and personality, but some really good singers seemed to get cut when others who forgot the words made it through.

And I love Ellen on there! I think she could totally carry the show when Simon leaves.

Oh and SPOILER...I am thrilled that they cut Pat Benetar wannabe Mary Powers last night because she had such an attitude. I didn't like how she thought she was so much better than the others.

I was surprised at the little 16 y/o...he has a good voice but he messed up a lot and he's SO young...the teenybopper will undoubtedly keep him around if he gets very far though.

and yes I was very glad the rocker girl didn't go through..she was annoying.

You took the words right out of my mouth! She was a little too much into herself.

I've enjoyed Ellen as well. My Olympic viewing messed up my AI viewing last night and I had to keep flipping back and forth so I didn't see the whole episode. In general, it seems as if there's quite a bit of talent. I thought that the female worship pastor was really fantastic, but I think she got cut last night.

Ellen has surprised me, too, Nikki, with how serious she has been most of the time. I still don't know what value she adds when the judges are picking the finalists, but whatever. At least she's not crazy PA.

No faves so far. I try not to get invested until they narrow it down to the Top 24.

Although Casey is good to look at and has a good voice, he seems to be without personality when he sings. That my come to bite him in the butt later when America is voting.
