My washing machine died.

It's about 12 years old.

We've had it worked on every 2 years for the last 6.

It needs to go to the washer graveyard, you can only resurrect something so many times.

Tell me what you have and why you love it. Right now I'm stuck on :

Ours is a piece of junk that we got with the house when we bought it, lol. I'm dreaming of a front loading washer/dryer combo (someday...someday). I really want the colored ones, preferrably dark blue or red (because I'm painting the laundry room bright yellow)...but DH insists that we can't get them because they'll "date" faster than classic white. He's sooo not adventurous or fun. LOL! He wasn't even going to let me consider front-loading, but I finally got him to accept that it's what I want and he'll live with it, lol.

I have a Kenmore front loader that I've had for about 5 years now and I love it! Huge capacity, does a great job of washing, uses less water and energy. One thing I do have to be careful of is not letting clothes sit in there after they're done, and making sure to leave the door open in between loads. They seal so tightly that mildew and the associated smell are a bigger problem than in top loaders. A lot of people with newer models don't seem to have this issue as much though. I do an empty load periodically with bleach in there to give it a good cleaning. If we were upgrading, I'd probably be looking at the one you are, or the higher model Kenmore maybe. (we have the HE3)

ours is a piece of junk too, it's well over 12 years old as we got it new when we moved into here. There's only the two of us though and we don't go thru a lot of clothes. But we need a new one one of these days. I'm watching with great interest.

samara! i have that washer/dryer combo from LG and I ADORE THEM! maybe even more than my dyson vacuum. :) get it!!! amazingly quiet, washes the clothes amazing, washes a TON of clothes at one time, uses HE detergent that last forever and no vibration (maybe on a second level)...omg...nuff said. they rule!

Lizzy- you have the 4.2 washer? It's a couple hundred more than the 4.0.

We have the Maytag Epic 4.0. I love it! We got the dented floor model. There is a ding on the back of the washer, totally unnoticeable but knocked almsot $300 off the price.

It washes a ton of clothes, a queen sized comforter and is currently washing a throw rug of uncertain size...possibly 4 by 3.

I'm off to Home Depot to see what they have. :)

Wish me luck. I need this TODAY. When hubby gets home he'll need to head over and pick my babies up! LOL

Be sure to measure if you are planning on putting them in a tight space- we are unable to get a front-loader because they are wider (from front to back) than top loaders. Our laundry room is also our mud room that goes into the garage, and the door is located so that our w/d can only be so wide. The front loaders just won't fit! We were SERIOUSLY bummed when we figured that out!

We just bought some GE front loaders this January! We even got the less expensive ones (they aren't as fancy looking) but it far surpasses any top loader I've ever used! Much gentler on the clothes and gets them cleaner! You'll notice less lint when you clean out your dryer's lint filter b/c it gently tosses them rather than agitating them.

yep! i wub them! dh works at best buy and when it was all done a year or so ago we paid $3800 or so (with a discount, warranties and pedestals...be sure to get the pedestals)!

OMG...I am in the same BOAT...mine is pretty much gone too and about the same age!!!! but I am going to Disneylnad first and then I will worry about a washing machine when I come back!!!

yahoo!!! your gonna love them...you will love doing laundry now. ok, i wouldn't go that far, but they do sing this little diddy to let you know when your clothes is done. well, they don't really sing (wow...i am an overexaggerator today!) they more like chime this sweet lil melody. :)

I have an 11 year old Whirlpool, *knock wood* never had a problem with it. I love my Whirlpool appliances, that is all we have, and have never had issues with any of it.

Watch now, my washer will die tomorrow LOL

We have the front loading LG steam washer in black! I ADORE that thing, seriously it is rawking and dare I say sexy as hell! LOL

I must admit that for about 2 weeks after I got my new front loader I went looking around the house for things to wash. :) I washed the curtains, the throw rugs, sofa pillows, seat cushions.....

My washer is on its last spin as well. The configuration of our laundry room is too small for a front loader. I was very sad when I found out. So now I am looking for a top loading washer.

Hubby is giving me all kinds of crap because I had to have the red machines!!!! The sales lady told him "Sir, the red ones have real chrome." LMAO!!!

He keeps telling me that for $2,000 less we could have had a very reasonable top loading set that would work just fine.

Dang it, I wanted those red machines and I got 'em!!!!!

Ohh, we came home from shopping & wrung out the clothes that were in the old washer and put them in the dryer. Hubby turned the machine on to the spin cycle and it WORKED!!!! He stood there laughing "Yeah, sure the machine stopped working, sure..." So I figure that I'll go ahead and put in another load. It gets to the spin cycle and NOTHING!!! LMAO!!!!

ahahahaha!! ya, the red ones are just super high tech. you could've gotten the lower LG's and they would've worked the same! LOL!! i love that you got them though!
