I am thinking its time I get ACDSee as I am tired of forgetting about scrapping items I have. I can either get 14 now for $30 or pre-order 15 for $50 + 100g of iCloud storage. What do you think? As a side note, I may be getting an iMac next month, would that change anything? TIA!
 
No helpful advice from me. I've had ACDSee since it first came out many years ago (bought upgrades and everything) and never use it. In fact, no clue why we ever bought it in the first place... I guess because I keep thinking I'll use it. LOL
 
I'd download the trial, play with it and then decide whether I want it or not. And, of course, feel free to ask any questions you might have here on the forums.

Both offers look fine to me. I have ACDSee 12 and I'm very happy with it. Depends whether you want the storage or not, I guess.

As for the Mac switch, I can't help you there because I'm a die-hard PC gal, but I think that's a wise question to ask - there is ACDSee for Mac, but I think the Mac ladies also mentioned other tagging programmes for Mac at some point.
 
Also, it's perfectly OK just to tag previews. In that way you can sort according to several criteria - I do colour (including favourite colour combos), theme and style (grungy, doodly, vintage etc.), which helps a lot when finding the right kit and your database won't get out of bounds in terms of size.

I also tag alphas (very helpful), papers and special elements (paint splatters and such), but I'd start with previews, it can be done relatively quickly (suprisingly so, I tell you) and it's an immense help.

And always back up your database. I know what I'm talking about. You can also embed data so that you can change hard drives / computers effortlessly, but I guess it's too soon to confuse you with it. :-)

I use 14 ( had 10 when it first came out) and I'm not sure what the difference in in the new 15. So I agree it probably doesn't matter unless you want the space.

And I'm not positive because I don't have a Mac but I'm pretty sure that ACDSee doesn't work on Mac's....I remember a thread here from a while ago that was something like an ACDSee app that was just for tagging stuff....you couldn't use the full potential of ACDSee. But the good new was it was way cheaper like $5 bucks!!! :D :D

I'd just do a quick google search and see what you could find out.

I know not many people like it but I love ACDSee!!! :wub: It just works for me!!!!
 
I use ACDSee 14. I upgraded from 9 last year and I use it a ton. I have switched organization systems several times and have settled upon tagging previews, alphas and templates. I also use it to view my images and easily bring them into Elements for scrapping. I haven't really gotten into organizing my pictures, but I know it can do that, too.

Oh, I guess the deciding factor for you would be if you really wanted the cloud storage, like others have said.
 
The app for Mac that is sold through the Apple store was not supported when the Mountain Lion OP upgraded, which meant that anyone who tagged using the app and upgraded to Mountain Lion lost all the tags (which is awful!).. The app does not embed the metadata, but the pro version does. That is a huge consideration in buying he new app, which is being sold directly through ACDSee. So, if I had it to do again I'd go with the pro version. It is new to Mac but I have not heard any complaints about the pro version. I am not positive you can convert the database from a PC to Mac, but I think so, as long as the metadata is embedded, which it is with the pro version. However, you probably would have to re-purchase for the Mac so if it were me, I'd wait until I had the Mac and only buy it once.

ITA with the suggestion to tag previews. It's easy to do right when you dl kits and is a super helpful tool.
 
If you purchase the PC version, it will not work on a Mac (if you switch).

I just started using it a couple of months ago, and so far it seems to be working great. Of course, I've still got a lot of tagging to finish up on my older supplies. I seem to be keeping up pretty well with new downloads. I see no reason to upgrade from 14.
 
I dont know what verision I have (to lazy to look) but I LOVE ACDSee! I use it to tag my kit previews, temps, and alphas. I don't know how I scrapped before it.
