About to burst at the seams

Jenny McCarthy's books are must haves! I also loved What to Expect When You are Expecting. As for stretch marks, ugh, I had 1 on a scar before I went into labor which shocked me cause I have them just from growing. After I came out of labor, I had an entire maze on the lower half of my stomach, I thought maybe I just couldn't see them before, but I was assured that they weren't there before. I had been putting stuff on my stomach the whole time, too.

Congrats! I cannot believe you are old enough to be a grandmother, though. You must have started having kids at like twelve, right?

Ha ha! Just about. I was 16 when I had my oldest DD. I feel older than I am somedays, especially when you find out you are going to be a grandmother!

Gotcha! But I read the book for my first *pregnancy*...not for childearing. Things like mucous plugs, delivery poo, and post-partum bleeding would have freaked me out if I hadn't known about them beforehand.

totally agree here! I have read bits and pieces of maybe two "baby" books or "sleep" books and they drove me nuts because my babies have never done anything like "the books." but I LOVED pregnancy books. (well, the one I read... haha)

then I have the most OCD friend ever (and a control freak) who had read 5 billion books and it going nuts that her baby isn't doing anything in any of them and keeps trying to find more books to get the answers. Let it go already! Seriously, it drives me nuts seeing her go nuts because of books. yeah.

How exciting for you Neenee!! I have no advice until she delivers ... stool softners ... that's all I am sayin'. ;)

How exciting! I hope its a great day for both of you! I agree with the book suggestions. I happy that What to Expect is still so popular, it was given to me by my first doctor, but that was 18 years ago

Jessica - When I had my last baby it was an emergency c-section. I was only 37 weeks so the baby had to go to the NICU for several hours. They finally brought it in around midnight. The nurse said "now remember, when you change the diaper don't pull back the head of the penis." I almost started crying - my house was an explosion of pink!! Thankfully she was wrong and I really did have a girl.

I'm another one for the What To Expect When You're Expecting book. I also bought a What To Expect Journal, which I LOVED. I wrote down everything in it, and I am so glad I did!

As for stretch marks, I tried everything. And I got them baaaaaaaaaad. So bad that when the doctor walked in to deliver Ava, she said "Woooah - do you ever have stretch marks!", and then said I was in the running for the top 2 worst cases she'd seen of it. Nice.

I also recommend What to Expect When You're Expecting. I also found a ton of information online - babycenter was my to go place when I was pregnant. I know you said she doesn't have a computer but it might be something fun for you to follow too?

Exactly! I did a bit of looking into it already today and as soon as I know the babies due date tomorrow, I am going to get signed up. That way I can have journaling things to go along with any pictures we have or B's feelings, etc. It can be a mother/daughter project.

It's super sweet to hear how excited you are about your new grandbaby!! Your daughter is very lucky to have you!!

Enjoy your day, Nee Nee! I'm happy for you.

Since I live in other part of the world, I have no books recommendation. :) But thinking of any other useful and beautiful things, what about a DVD with pregnancy yoga or pilates?

Oh that reminds me... have you and EVERYONE you know sign up for baby stuff... diapers, etc. so you can get coupons stocked up...

Okay - I know I'm late to the party (again), but I had a few thoughts.

As others have mentioned, babycenter.com is fun. Once you plug in the baby's due date, they will send you a weekly e-mail telling you what is going on with your pregnancy, how the baby is developing, etc. It's kind of cool. Also, if you find that you have any sort of complications or other questions during your pregnancy, the community at babycenter is great about answering questions and offering support. I found lots of good information about my thyroid issues over there during my last pregnancy.

For diapers, wipes, and other stuff like that, you HAVE to check out the Subscribe and Save option at Amazon.com. We usually buy Huggies, and we have found that it's cheaper than Costco. You go to the product you want to buy, and over on the right hand side, it will have a button for Subscribe and Save. You can tell it how often you want it delivered. You get 15% off and free shipping. And, then you sit back and wait. Diapers and wipes appear on your doorstep care of your loving UPS guy once a month (or as often as you have chosen). We buy diapers, wipes, Pull Ups, and toilet paper this way. And, I'm sure there are a bunch of other things we could do too, we just haven't gotten around to it yet. I LOVE it! And, it saves money too. I don't think you can subscribe for Newborn size diapers, but you only use those for a short time anyway. Once the baby is in Size 1/2, you're good to go!

Good luck with the Dr. appointment NeeNee! How fun! It's so true that it doesn't matter what the circumstances are, every baby is a blessing to be cherished and loved. I know you daughter will appreciate your support so much!

You're probably there now. I hope your DD and the baby are doing well and the 2 of you are having a great time together!

Oh! Have fun! You sound so excited.

I would get her Your Pregnancy Week by Week. And a Baby Names Book!! :) As for stretch cream - no clue. I got them bad and tried smearing stuff all over the tummy.

Ohhh just an FYI I saw a baby names book at my local Dollar Tree. It was the same one I bought when I was pregnant with my last for a whole lot more LOL. SO if you have a dollar tree nearby maybe stop in and see if they have it there?
