Somehow I have killed Hello on my laptop, which is my primary computer. I have tried uninstalling/reinstalling. Doing a system restore. And I keep getting that stupid error message about the UI failing to initialize. I tried the cleanup thing but that did nothing.

I blame Ad Aware.

I feel so cut off from the world now . . .

Try looking for the hello application in your registry. Easier said than done, cuz I don't remember how to do that, but I know that on my old laptop I used to have issues wtih itunes updates, and that fixed it.
 
Mimi, uninstall, reinstall but make a new account. See if that works. Granted you lose your friends, etc.. but better than losing hello.....

well let's say I found it in the regsitry . . . then what do I do?

(assuming I am brave enough to do anything to do my registry)

as a last ditch resort I may do as Sara suggests . . .

Yes, yes, we do.. even if I'm an idiot and JUST NOW figured out what the secret was that Mandy was teasing me with forever ago... and it's been revealed for what.... 5 days? I'm so slow sometimes................
 
If you find the hello app in the registry, just delete it.
Then go back and reinstall like normal.

PS~ I still haven't figured out how to add ppl to my goober list
 
Col, I think when you are on your goober contact list, up at the top there is a green plus sign maybe? Then it should open a box with a bunch of boxes in it, in which you can type ppl's screen names and it should add them.....
 
aww man after all that trouble..on the hello fix you have to chose the error (or choose fix all) for some reason that error fix is set on a certain error but it fixes others (if that even makes sense)

i hardly turn Goober on. I swear it makes clicking noises that drive me crazy (I mean while it's running in the background. not they type-y clicking sounds)
