A question for the green thumbs...

I want to learn how to take care of plants, so I bought a succulent a few weeks ago. I've been watering it a few times a week and placed it at my windowsill.

Can you tell me if it's healthy? Should I water it more, less or just the same?

I am not expert or anything near that, but I'll say it looks quite healthy.
Do pick the dry parts at the bottom and remove them.
Water it sufficiently but not too much, succulent doesn't really need much water.

I hope it grows beautifully and last long :)
 
Thanks Sherly & Sandy! I thought it needs more water because of the brown leaves.. so are the brown leaves normal (meaning they're old?) and I just have to pick them out?

So sorry if my questions sound silly, but I've never learned gardening & I want to start learning now..
 
Plants' leaves do get brown and needs to be trimmed/plucked out, so it's actually okay, unless they all go brown, then that's the sign that it needs more water.
You can see the sign if your plant is thirsty, if the green leaves look thin and dry (like dry skin), then you haven't watered it enough. If it continues, it'll go brown and die. So long as there's green part and the green part is healthy looking green, then, it's growing fine.
 
I have succulents & they don't need to be watered nearly as often as other plants. My plants instructions said to water when the top inch of soil was dry. I'll water it, maybe, once a week? It's thriving so I guess i'm doing ok ha! I soak mine though and let it sit in the sink overnight and then place in the windowsill. If you're only watering it a little then every few days is probably fine.

Try less. Press into the soil. If damp, wait. If dry, water.
 
What a beautiful plant!

The other ladies here gave you some good advice. My mother used to grow beautiful jade plants. The biggest thing was to not water it too much.

Go ahead an pick off the dead brown leaves. If one of the green leaves happens to fall off you can try sticking the cut end in your dirt and sometimes that may start a new plant. My mom used to do that with her jade plants.
