A proud moment...

So I have to brag a bit about my daddy. He's 56 years old and was just given the 7News Everyday Hero award for his work building wheelchair ramps for the handicapped. They taped the segment in mid-august and the first of seven viewings aired tonight on the 10 o'clock news. (A weblink should be up sometime this week and I'll post it when it goes up) He was nominated by one of the families that he built a ramp for, through our church's Ramp Ministry (he's the lead of the ministry).

Growing up, my dad was not a Christian. He did not share the same faith that my mom and sister and I had. And while he respected and suported our faith, he made it very clear that he saw no need for it in his own life. Then, not long after he turned 50, my dad was in a river rafting accident and almost lost his life. He came back from the river a changed man and one year later, he gave his life to the Lord.

Its been an amazing six years since then. And I just couldn't help but cry tears of joy watching my father receive an award for all of his hard work (he's built over 58 ramps so far).

So, there ya go. My proud-daughter moment. Sorry for the sappy-ness. lol

That is really awesome! I love that they showcase real people doing real things to help.

Jenny- that's so wonderful about your father's new found faith! Hallelujah! There's always something special when an adult becomes a Christian. And it's wonderful that he was chosen as an Everyday Hero! Be very proud of him!
