Keira Corrin would have been Logan Wiley if she had been a boy in 2005.

Cooper Douglas Wiley would have been Hailey Grace if he'd have been a girl in 2008.

Harper Wyatt would have been Brynna Grace if he had been a girl in 2012.

We decided against Logan when Cooper was born because it had become so popular. Wiley was my dad's middle name and since we thought we were finished, we threw Douglas in there after Sean's middle name and his father's name.

We loved Grace, but Hailey I was no longer digging Hailey this go around.

LOL-DH and I waited until we knew our children's gender to start talking about names. We had a hard enough time coming up with 1 name we both liked for each child, never mind 1 for each gender!
 
Hmmmm.... I never wanted any girls so I didn't pick out girl names until I was pregnant with Mason since I called dibs on naming him, so Ryan will have to go unnamed. lol

Zachary Evan - Isabella Ann (lol)
Isabella Ann - Mason Wesley (my original middle name choice)
Mason Spencer - Delilah Marie
 
well.....we knew the gender of all the kids before we picked names LOL

but
1. Samantha Hope(my middle name) would have been Samuel Alan ......1993 (regardless we wanted a "Sam"
2. Benjamin Alan (Matt's middle name) didn't even have a girl name picked...but he still ALMOST became SAMUEL LOL!!!!!
3. Abigial Louisa (Matt's gmas 1st name)....no boy name picked out at all but I was gonna give her the middle name "Rose", but Matt said "doesn't she just look like an Abby Lou"....yep...she does!
4. Peyton James (Matt's gpa 1st name, brother's middle name)......would have been PAYTON LMAO...regardless it was gonna be Peyton/Payton (but no girl middle name picked)
 
Sean would have been Susanna. I don't think we had come up with a girl name when Ian was born. We had moved off of Susanna but hadn't picked another one, so it was a good thing he was a boy. Raegan and Kaylin both would have been Owen, and I have to admit that I'm still a little sad we never got to use that name. Plus, the next boy would have had my maiden name as his middle name, I would have liked to have gotten that in somewhere. :)
 
DH and I couldn't agree on a girls name... he would pick names like Rachel, Amanda, Jennifer... and I would pick out names like Madeline, Olivia, Ella... we did kind of agree on Elizabeth Catherine (middle name was DH's mother's)... but DH couldn't get over how long her name would have been to write out - Elizabeth Catherine Kuchenbecker. We could have then run into a problem with my side of the family that didn't have a name represented if DH's family got their name listed... so we would have had to add another middle name like Ella or Anna... so in the end, even though I didn't get my Katie or Anna Banana... it was really a good thing that J was born a boy! And I guess in a backhanded kind of way that having infertility issues, we don't have to go through another period of ever having to pick out another name ever again... silver lining, I guess.
 
L.J. would have been Shelby Rae since that's the only one we both agreed on. I liked Shelby because it sounded southern and Jay liked Rae because he saw in a baby book it's meaning was "female deer".

I can tell you that my parents were set on my brothers name regardless of gender. The name would have been Dale either way....boy or girl.
 
I knew what I was having with my middle son so I never picked a name for him for a girl. My youngest would have been Destiny Nicole. My oldest would have been Matthew probably just because I love that name.

My mom's name is Dale. She gets the "oh I thought you were a guy" thing all the time. She was named after Dale Evans though.
 
My dad wanted to name me either Tyree or Waylon after the country singer Waylon Jennings! Glad I turned out to be a girl! LOL!
 
We never 100% agreed on girl names. With my first (Benjamin David), we didn't find out the gender before he was born so we would have been screwed had he been a girl. The closest we got was Alaina Rose.

My second (Matthew Robert), we found out his gender during pregnancy, but didn't pick his name until he was about to be born! :D Before we found out he was a boy, we still struggled with girl names. I really loved Clara and would have loved to use it (although I was torn because...well, it's kind of matchy with Sara). Alas, we'll never have to argue about a girls name! :)
 
yea mine too. Only thing that stopped me is it is also a name for a road here in Orlando. I really liked Nathaniel but his dad did not so he ended up with Nickolas. We literally had not decided on a name until several hours after he was born. The middle name was set with Tyler. That was the other problem with Conway I could not find a middle name I thought fit.

That's who Dale would have been named after for the girl version....lol. But since he was a boy it's after Dale Earnhardt the Nascar driver.

My dad wanted my middle name to be Bradshaw after Terry Bradshaw....my mother however vetoed that idea. She wanted it to be Ivy....but my dad vetoed that. So my grandmother suggested Ann...which happens to also be her middle name....and that's what won. lol
 
we're lucky we had boys! because we were totally insync and in full agreement on all the boy names right away... but girl names were a different story. we only ever came up with one that we both loved and it was our go to all three times out. Addison Jaye. still love it. and actually get a little misty eyed knowing that we'll never have a sweet one to take it on ♥
 
We didn't start considering names until we knew the gender of our boys, so we never chose girl names ... I certainly had a lot of girl names in mind though :)
 
Before she was born, we really liked the name Aidalynne but thought it would be too long as a first name. We separated it has her first and middle name, Aida Lynne. I really really wanted her to be an Ava but her dad liked Aida better for some reason. I wasn't concentrated on boys names too much just because I had a feeling she would be a girl. I did have the name Benjamin in mind, just in case. No idea why- I have always liked that name.
 
My husband didn't like either of my girl options but I wanted either Brooke or Aubrey (nickname Bree)... but my husband doesn't like either of those names with our last name because of the double B sound. oh well, no girls for me.
 
I actually did both baby announcements before my first was born. She was supposed to be a girl Elysse Rhae-Ann (Elysse because I liked it and I wanted a unique name and it was kind of like Eloise my grandmother, Rhae and Ann after both her grandmothers) and she was. But we had the boy name picked out too, just in case. So when my son was born, the name was a done deal Thomas Earl, Thomas after my dad and some relatives on his dad's side and Earl, after his grandfather and great grandfather. So I just changed the date on the announcement by about 2 1/2 years ; )
 
Our girl name for both boys was Linnea. I still love that name <3 It was inspired by my Swedish heritage. If we have another baby (working on DH still) I don't think I'll use it cause of Landon's name starting with an L. We'll see!
 
Before any children:

Boy - Caleb Nathaniel
Girl - Caitrin Alyssa

Our first child was a boy who we named Tyler Anthony. Caleb means strong and Tyler was born at 20 weeks gestation and was certainly not strong. We tossed around the idea of possibly using the name Caleb if we had a boy in the future.

Second pregnancy (2001-2002)

Girl - Caitrin Alyssa
Boy - Aidan Reid (before the name Aidan exploded everywhere- was sad to mark it off our list! Still love the combo which means fiery redhead)

Between 2nd and 3rd pregnancy when we were debating on whether or not to have another:

Girl: Eliana Paige
Boy: Nolan Patrick, Declan Josiah, Conor somethingorother

SIL said she hated the name Declan so I crossed it off my mental list pretty much immediately because I didn't want a kid with a name that family members hated

Third pregnancy (2005) - did not know the gender until baby was born, also didn't have a boy name chosen until the night before I went into labor which was 2 days before my scheduled c-section, we were cutting it close on boy names!

Girl - Breena Eilis
Boy - Declan Levi

Dh chose the name Declan, he wasn't part of the conversation with his sister and, in fact, I had never discussed the name Declan with him since we weren't pregnant at the time. Coincidentally, SIL now LOVES the name Declan, recommends it to friends and says she can't imagine our Declan being anything other than Declan. :)

I had wanted a daughter named Raegan since long before my husband and I even met. Then it took me eight years to talk him in to it. It slowly grew on him. It was a good thing we had two boys first. By the time a girl came along, he was on board, and now he agrees that it's the perfect name for her. :)
 
We didn't name Nicholas until he was born, so we never had girls names picked out. I wanted to wait until I met my child to name them. We brought 5 boy name combos to the hospital with us. I had Samuel Nahum, James Theodore, Tobias Jonah, Nicholas Xander and Theodore Jude. After he was born, I knew part of his name had to be Jonah. I just knew it. I decided against first name cause I didn't want him to be called Joe. So it was his middle name. I ruled out Tobias & Theodore cause he didn't look like a Toby or Teddy. I ruled out James cause I didn't like James Jonah. Then I debated for hours over Nicholas or Samuel. Later I held him and looked at his face and knew he was Nicholas Jonah. For girls we talked about Lola, Angelina, Scarlett, Eliza and another name I can't remember any more. A middle name would have been Maci or Ema (after my mom).
 
I always wanted boys but got 3 girls instead.
Barbara Denise would have been Duane Russell if she had been a boy.
So would have Linda Christine would have been Duane Russell and so would Anna Gail. But I never had a Duane Russell.
 
My girl names were:

Ryan Mar'E (possibly Ryann but I wanted it to be Ryan and not ryANNE do I couldn't decide and Mar'E is a family middle name)
We also like Delilah for Josiah.
Finn was Lucy Lynne which I don't really like now.

I had a boys name picked out before Sean and I met. I had a few girls names I liked but none that I really felt I had to use. One day I was at work, lost in thought packing boxes of paper (worked in a printing company) when a voice said to me, outloud, "You will have a daughter named Caitrin". I looked around to see which of the guys I worked with was messing with me. No one was around. The pressman I was working with was at the back of his machine messing with a big roll of paper so definitely not him and we were the only two within a thousand feet. Sean and I worked at the same company then. We had lunch together and I told him what I had heard. He just shrugged and said "okay, as long as we give her an 'A' middle name so that her initials are CAT." then he said "what about Alyssa?". This conversation took place about 3 years before Caitrin came along. LOL


I gave Tyler his first name and Sean gave him his middle name.
I gave Caitrin her first name and Sean chose her middle name.
Sean gave Declan his first name and I chose his middle name.

My step-son is named Cory Ryan. Sean named him. He didn't put a lot of thought into it at the time (He was 16 when Cory was born) and Cory was named after a female body builder. :D I love, though, that his name is Irish just like Caitrin and Declan's :)
 
I never had opposite gender names picked out for my kids... I never really got serious about choosing names for them until my ultrasound to find out if they were a boy or girl. Although, my girl name that I liked before I knew Ben was a boy was not Grace (which is what I did end up naming my daughter)... If he had been a girl he probably would have been Alison or Elizabeth.

I do know that if I had been a boy, my name would have been Ryan.
 
Before I ever met my ex husband he dreamed he had a son with blonde hair and brown eyes named Jason Phillip. We both liked the name so it was our first choice for a boy. Our first 2 children were girls, Andrea Marie and Candice Michelle. I don't remember now what other names we had picked out. However, Candice was almost Karen Elizabeth. Coincidentally, Jason had blonde hair and brown eyes - the only child we had with that combination.

A hundred years ago it wasn't unheard of for children to be nameless for several years.
 
I knew the gender of mine ahead of time too, so I never chose the opposite. We did play around with names before we found out though. Chris and I could never agree on anything!

As a teen, I was crazy and had a whole list of really weird names that I wanted to use on my 12 kids that I planned to have LOL:
Recellini
Zephany
Alyndza
Makaya
(those were a few of them. I didn't plan on having any boys back then LOL)

The first 3 of my children I picked - just what I wanted:
Jennah Elyzabeth
Gavin Tyler
Braden Michael

Mariah Sheryl - Chris wanted her to be Cressida, and I wanted Brielle. The only name we could agree on was Mariah.
Carter Steven - Chris wanted him to be Augustus, and I wanted Maddox or Zander. We agreed only on Carter LOL

Now I'm bribing him that if we can have another, he can pick the names LOL. I've got major baby fever, but I don't think the bribing is working!
 
Zachary Andrew would have been Zoe (never decided on a middle name).

My parents fought over my name (Jennifer Rachelle)-- my mom wanted me to be Julie Anne or Julia Ann, and my dad insisted I be named Bobbie. In the end, they decided on Jennifer.

As for odd names... my mom is named Candy Cherie. My grandfather wanted to name her Cherry Cherie after his favorite ice cream, but naming her Candy, with her maiden name "Hart," she ended up being "Candy Hart" which I think is just pretty darn cute as it is!
