a layering paint/stamp question

So I am working on a layout using Traci's What a Man and I have the paint with x's and the circle ring stamps layered together. It didnt look right with the rings under the paint so I moved them on top of the paint and that still doesnt looks right. Which way would you do it if the paint/stamps were real and not digital?

Hmm. I'd have to see it... but one idea that came to mind: did you try using a blending mode for one or the other? Maybe that would help to make the stamp look like ink or the paint look painty. :)

Im using a template and havent decided on a background quite yet so once I do that that idea might help. I can do a screenshot if it helps

ok the rings are the stamps and the blue square things are paint I have the rings on top on the top and underneath on the bottom and cant figure out which one I like more.

ETA: I just started the layout and usually start with element placing first althugh I know what photo Ill be using. It is just the beginning at this point LOL. Stuff will get moved and deleted and resized Im sure. But I dont know what to do with the paint/stamps

If I were doing it on a physical page, I would paint first and then stamp. No idea on how to make it look better on the page but paint before stamping makes most sense to me from a paper scrapper/crafter standpoint.

I would put the rings on top of the paint because if it were a real page, I would start with paint and then start getting fancy with the rings

What the others said, paint then stampy things. And try changing the rings to 'multiply' and see if that helps them look more real?
